When I'm traveling on the highway in the rain, I don't need the windshield wipers at all and I can see very well.

I have used Rain-X for over ten years now. I am still amazed at what it does for glass. The spray bottles or wipes have worked best for me. Do not apply or buff with a cloth you intend to keep as the chemicals degrade fabrics. Cheap paper towels do just fine. Some people complain about glare after applying it, but a good buffing or the next car wash or rain shower will take care of any places you missed.
Windshield, side glass and even my mirrors are treated three to four times a year. No, it is not intended to replace using wipers, but any consistent cruising speeds over 30 mph and water rolls right off.
Try not to spray on painted surfaces & rubber trim as the directions say. I have experimented with spraying rubber scraps & plastics, it degrades and dries rubber trim fast due to the evaporatives in Rain-X.

I was skeptical about this product. Mostly about it actually working but also some of the reviews mentioning this being dangerous. After reading various items around the net and all the reviews here, I ordered a bottle. It came along with 2 Rain-X wipers I ordered for our new (used) Dodge Durango.

I put on the new wipers. I washed the windshield with a 3M non-scratch scrubbie using water with some dish soap. I then dried it completely with a towel. I applied the product correctly and have no experienced ANY light issues at night. As nature would have it, the very next day, it rained here in Minnesota. Perfect! In city driving, you do see the water beading effect but the windspeed is not enough to push it up and off the windshield. I definately used the wipers less. Once I got on the interstate, amazing. I hesitate to say this since someone will do this, crash and sue me, but you could almost NOT use your wipers. It's that good. Really! Driving 60 MPH, the rain literally hit the windshield and beaded off. With my experience, I would have to say the product works. I think the issues stem from how to correctly apply it. Think of this stuff as 'wax' for your windshield. It's not window cleaner. By this, I mean you have to apply and buff it off. You cannot just spray and wipe. It will leave streaks and cause issues with light refraction. The easiest way to know if you have it applied correctly is to look at it in the light. If you see streaks, keep buffing.

Great product. Used it for 5 years now. Limit the streaking by two ways: Using a spray bottle, lightly mist a paper towel then buff the glass after product dries. After streaks are detected just use a dry cotton cloth (towel) and buff the streaks out. Not that difficult to have streak free glass. But the streaks will be annoying during night time traveling.

I have never used this on my car; I actually got it after reading tips on how to keep my new glass shower doors clean! I applied Rain X according to the package instructions, just as I would to a car, and it works wonderfully - keeps the soap scum off and makes the water bead instead of run down and make it look messy.

Being new to the product, my one complaint was the REALLY strong alcohol smell. Maybe it's because I was indoors and not outside or in a garage. I had the bathroom fan on and door open, but it was still pretty strong. I guess that's how it works! So just make sure you apply in a well-ventilated area.

I like the spray bottle, although it seems like using a cloth defeats the purpose. If you're going to apply it to a cloth anyway, why not just get the normal liquid?

Anyway, it does what it says. I think I'll use it on my cars, as well.

I've used this on both windshields and the visor on my motorcycle helmet. It works insanely well...in fact in the latter case, I would never ride my motorcycle in the rain without it anymore. As others have noted, it's important to buff off the residue shortly after the initial application. Otherwise you'll be looking through a hazy film. It seems to be particularly bad with the plastic helmet visor, but a little elbow grease solves it.

Remember to buff off the residue, though, and you'll never want to be without this stuff. I've comfortably driven through rain storms with the windshield wipers completely off.

If you don't use Rain-X on your car windows you're missing out on one of the greatest inventions. I rarely have to put my wipers on full throttle, mostly intermittent. On the freeway in light-med rain water beads and runs off, no wipers. At first it appears you're inside a Seven-Up bottle looking out as the windshield "fizzes", then water droplets beads and runs off over the top. A quick swipe of the wipers leaves the glass clean with zero streaks. I use it on all the glass not just the front windshield. Rain-X keeps the side windows "clear" of rain water improving visibility even in the worst of North Calif storms.

Living in Central Texas is doesn't rain a lot but when it does you'll be glad you used this product. It also works well when you need to clean your windows with the automatic glass cleaner featuere that comes with most modern cars.

I suggest using a decent micro-fiber towel when using and of course cleaning the glass before you apply Rain-X. Also, the 16oz bottle will last a very long time.
