Nice counting book,
This review is from: Rainbow Fish 1,2,3 (Hardcover)
This is a fun little counting book to learn numbers. The previous reviewer indicated it was for the alphabet, but it is for numbers. You learn colors and numbers by counting different colored fish scales or other objects in the sea that rainbow fish sees. The glittery scales add interest to the pages. Nice book, but nothing terribly outstanding, but then of course, how could a number counting book be that original? That is only why I gave it 3 stars, but I would still recommend purchasing it. Nicely done. YOur child will like it. Very colorful and some glittery illustrations that will keep your child interested.

Very, Very, Very disappointed in this book. I thought it would be more like the regular Rainbow Fish book that is excellent, but it was just A,B,C, etc. across all the pages. No story at all.

If you need to buy a counting book, this is a good one. Yes, there is no "story" to it...it's just a counting book. But there are a couple of things to count on each page, so the child gets repetitive practice.
The last pair of pages has a review of all the numbers of things counted, and the child and parent can use it not only a counting excercise, but also a find-the-right-illustration excercise. Lots of opportunity for review, review, review while still being fun. And, of course, the shiny Rainbow Fish scales help keep the child turning the pages. The illustrations are good; everything is clearly what the text says it is and palette of smudgy pastel-stick art makes for soft, pleasing ocean scenes. |
