Hanging from the arms of an orange starfish, the Rainbow Fish and a group of new friends glitter and shimmer as they swim through the air and turn with the slightest breeze.

This is such a great book. I teach 3's and they adore this series. Start with this and then go on to "Rainbow Fish comes to the Rescue" and "Rainbow Fish and the Big Blue Whale" Talk about the lesson it's about! They are so beautifully illustrated! Let them touch the silvery scale! It not only is a wonderful teaching story but the illustrations allow tactical experiences that follow through for other learning experiences. We made Rainbow fish with tissue paper and tin foil and we also did a whole week of "Dazzle the dinosaur". This book is a MUST for every little boy and girl! The whole series is fabulous!

Friend or Foe?,

I first read the story of the Rainbow Fish when I was in college. I had a project to do for one of my education classes which required me to choose a book that I would enjoy reading to my students and be able to read the book while using "props" to tell the story. The moment I saw the book, I knew that it was the book I wanted to use for my project. The cover immediately caught my eye. It is so colorful. The watercolors are beautiful! Then, as I began reading, the story itself made me want to use it even more. Long story made short, I used the book for my project which turned out to be a great success. After graduating college and beginning my career as a teacher of small children , I bought my own copy of the book to read to my students. They love the story and often wish to hear it read several times. It is the type of story that children can learn from. It has a good message, and I really try to draw this out of the story when I read it to my students. It is a wonderful book that is beautifully illustrated. I love the book so much that I painted one wall of my classroom with the rainbow fish and other characters from the book. I will always love the Rainbow Fish.
