5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST Prenatal Vitamin Available

2.0 out of 5 stars Not ideal for sensitive stomachs
I bought this prenatal because I love that it is a whole-food vitamin. I don't even mind that you have to take 6 pills a day. What I do mind is that it exacerbates my pre-existing digestive issues.

I stopped taking the Raibow Light vitamins and have since switched to New Chapter Organics. Their prenatal contains probiotics (like acidophilus) that help...

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST Prenatal Vitamin Available, July 18, 2007

With my first pregnancy, I tried just about every prenatal vitamin on the market. Everything made me sick. Even half a pill. Even with a full meal. Even at night. I tried everything and it still came right back up. So I quit taking vitamins!

With my second pregnancy (twins), I knew couldn't possibly survive without a supplement. Sicker than ever, I stumbled upon the Rainbow Light Complete Food-Based Prenatal System and let me tell you it was a life-saver.

I'm now in the last six weeks of my third (and last) pregnancy and STILL using this prenatal. It's the only one I recommend.

TIPS:
--Take two vitamins with breakfast, two with lunch, and two with dinner.
--If that doesn't work for you, do three in the morning and three at night.
--If that is too hard, try Rainbow Light's Just Once Prenatal (though not as good).

CAUTION:
--If you have never had a problem with iron deficiency anemia AND you have too much iron in your blood, you might want to find a prenatal without iron. This one might make you constipated.
--Never use any supplement for an overly-lengthy period of time. After 2.5-3 years of continual use I developed a sensitivity and can no longer tolerate this supplement (full body rash within 15 minutes). Nobody ever warned me, but I'm warning you!

5.0 out of 5 stars great product, July 3, 2007
I took these throughout my pregnancy with my healthy son (now 2) and have already started taking them with my current pregnancy.

6 pills, sure, but I never once got sick from them. I've heard stories from friends who had to take their prenatal at night or it made them sick. I'd rather take 6 (I split them up over the day...3 in the morning, 3 at night... or else 2 at each meal) and feel fantastic! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars 6 Tablets a day!, June 26, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Before you buy, make sure you realize that with the "complete prenatal system" you are supposed to take 6 tablets a day, in order to get all the RDA of the vitamins and stuff. I didn't realize that when I ordered, and I probably won't order again for that reason (I'm going to go with the Rainbow Light Just Once prenatal). BUT, if you are okay with taking that many vitamins a day, and it isn't a nuisance, this system is great, and I believe it helped the swelling in my feet and toes too. They didn't bother my stomach at all, or give me heartburn. Expensive, but a really great brand that can be trusted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Natural source means better absorption, September 26, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When the prescription prenatal I had been taking for 5 years was suddenly unavailable, I worried. It was the only iron source I've ever taken that kept me in a normal iron range. A friend suggested Rainbow Light Complete Prenatal System. Most of the ingredients are derived from food sources, so your body absorbs it better like the food it is. I feel great, I don't have any kind of stomach upset (like I did with other prescription brands), and most important to me - it's gluten free!

Amazon also has the best price on the internet right now for these vitamins.

The pills are big - about the size of other prenatal vitamins and calcium supplements. They do not have an enteric coating and you have to take a lot of them (6 per day). But even those "annoyances" don't knock it down a star based on how good I feel taking these. I highly recommend them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rainbow Lite 4th time around, September 15, 2008

I'm on my 4th pregnancy and am back to order these vitamins once again. I've used them with my previous 3 pregnancies and would hesitate to go any other route. I tried those doctor-perscribed prenatal vitamins--they made me ill even before I was pregnant! But then, who wouldn't get ill on a pill full of synthetic chemicals? These are food based, and get spaced out through the day to make it a little easier on the tummy and to absorb better than those taken in one whalloping gulp.

5.0 out of 5 stars 6/day but boy do these pills help., April 22, 2009
The midwife at my ob/gyn recommended this and i'm so glad she did. With my last pregnancy I was taking whatever run of the mill prenatal they stock the ob with samples of. My last pregnancy I developed the PUPPPS rash. Not fun. I asked the doc what she recommended, if anything, i can do this time around to avoid getting PUPPPS. She said although this will not guarentee you will not get it this time around, this might make the effects a bit less noticible. She was right. I did get it the second time around but not nearly as bad and I can live with a small rash. This also helps leg cramps (i notice if i skip a day the following day i'll get horrid leg cramps). Also, I have enough energy to keep up with my incredibly active 2 year old, and my baby is growing beautifully!
Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!!!, March 31, 2009

After researching a lot of different pre-natal pills I chose this and am so glad I did. Before I got pregnant I had been taking another brand that just made me feel to think about it - I don't what it was, the smell, the taste or what but it did not sit well in my stomach. I started taking the Rainbow Light system a month or so before I got pregnant, I am now 9 months pregnant and during the entire 40 weeks I have never had a problem with an upset stomach or keeping the pills down.

What I love about this complex is that in addition to being a prenatal pill with all of the needed supplements it had the digestive support, superfoods and special prenatal blend to ease discomfort (ex. swelling, etc.) I have had an extraordinarily easy pregnancy and I certainly cannot say whether or not it was a result of taking this system but I am quite sure it helped. I never had morning sickness, swelling or any other discomfort other than the occasional heartburn that was eased quickly by Tums.

Now, having raved about this product I must say that taking these pills are not a piece of cake. While the idea of taking 6 a day seemed like an easy proposition at first and made sense that it would help the nutrients absorb into my system better if space throughout the day it was often difficult to remember to take them. I spaced the 6 out by taking 2 with each meal and that worked most of the time but I would sometimes have to catch up and take 6 at the end of the day because I had forgotten.

I also expected that since there were so many that the pills would be smaller, they are not. They are the size of the once a day I was taking before. :P

Lastly, I had trouble getting them down some days with just water because while they don't taste terrible, they really don't taste great. I found though that if I drank any sort of flavoured drink (like juice) then I was just fine.

So, choosing this system certainly represents a commitment and most people thought I was crazy for taking 6 pills a day but I have to say that I have and still feel great and will be sure to take this brand with each successive preganancy.

Good luck!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Product for basic and foundation prenatal vitamin, April 28, 2008
This review is from: Rainbow Light Complete Prenatal System 360 Tabs (Health and Beauty)
I really like this product because it is food based and has an array of supplements that every person needs. It has antioxidants and also a huge array of green foods (wheat grass, etc.) It also has enzyme's and digestive aids which can be a huge help when digestion becomes slowed or difficult during pregnancy. The tablet is some what uncomfortable to swallow, but slides easily down due to it's make up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Prenatal Vitamins I've ever used, September 10, 2009
This review is from: Rainbow Light Complete Prenatal System 360 Tabs (Health and Beauty)
I LOVE these prenatal vitamins. I used them throughout my entire pregnancy and felt great the whole time, and I also continue to use them now that I'm breastfeeding. They are chocked full of a lot of stuff that other prenatals don't have - such as Red Raspberry Leaf, which is known to help maintain a healthy uterine environment - and I can't recommend them enough!

I stopped taking the Raibow Light vitamins and have since switched to New Chapter Organics. Their prenatal contains probiotics (like acidophilus) that help digestion rather than cause it to act up. I have had no issues since the switch. If you have a sensitive stomach (think IBS), you may want to consider New Chapter Organics.
