The Rainbow Through the Eyes of A Closet Homosexual's Wife, by Jreamwriter

Kyleena forces readers to examine the two most influential men in her life; her loyal, eccentric, and openly gay best friend, Gerry, verses her latest husband, Alex, who misrepresents his sexuality in a manner that has afforded him the ability to hide his debased character behind spirituality, ministry, marriage, and family. However, at some point, what goes on in the dark does eventually comes to light...

About the Author

After having studied creative writing under the instruction of Professor Jeffery Ford, author of The Girl In The Glass and The Portrait of Mrs. Charbuque, and journalism under college adjunct and independent journalist Arthur Z. Kamin, Jreamwriter was issued a writer's choice award in January 2007 for authoring the short story, A Slice of Nana's Sweet Potato Pie, which later received publication in EditRed.com's 2007 anthology, Late-night River Lights. For that piece, Jreamwriter's talent was compared to that of the world renowned Jamaica Kinkaid and accordingly, Jreamwriter received acclamations on an international level for intriguing audiences with a writing style that doesn't just tell stories, but also delivers strong narrative voices, believable characters, descriptive scenes, and flowing story lines. 5.0 out of 5 stars Jreamwriter (The Rainbow Through The Eyes Of A Closet Homosexual's Wife), May 4, 2008
This review is from: The Rainbow Through The Eyes Of A Closet Homosexual's Wife (Hardcover)
Well after hearing a lot about Jreamwriter and this new novel, I decided to order it from Amazon. It arrived a couple of days later. I anxiously begain reading the book and noticed that I continued to read it without putting it down for nearly 4 hours. The charactes and free flowing of the writing sort of makes you feel the impact of the situations, and sadly I felt sympathy and apathy at various times due to how the wife finds out about her bi-sexual husband, and of his hidden relationships. This is one novel that I hope makes it to the Big Screen. This is an adult read, and for people who want more understanding of men or women on the Down Low, get this book. This book is for anyone who is involved in a relationship, and perhaps having doubt about the singular nature of their spouse. It's a well written book and I look forward to reading others publications from Jreamwriter. Excellent debut novel.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Urban Book Source, July 27, 2008
Reviewed by Chasity Boone

UrbanBookSource.com

The story of Kylena Brook's life falls around the plot of "look at what this man has done to me." Kylena is a mover and motivator when it comes to her career and her children, but not in the hands of the man she married. Kylena is on her third marriage to Mr. Alex Brook a counselor and a holier-than-thou church man that has no idea what he wants in life or love. Kye wants to be a caterer and focus on her career, but Alex is not the best person to support her in that virtue.

Kye has a past that she can't seem to shake off, and she feels like she' battling demons. She is battling demons in the form of her children and demons in the form of her husband. Alex is a man that feels that prayer is the answer to all one's problems except for his. Alex is a brother that doesn't want to be honest with his wife about the sand problem in his eye and his wife can't blow it out for him. Gerry; who is Kye's best friend would probably be the better candidate for that. Kye notices a change in Alex's pattern and as we know everyone has one, but when they deviate from that pattern that's when we as women become skeptical and that was Kye's case. Kye's problem is that she is living her life in denial because she doesn't want to know the truth she's holding on to a man who is already gone. Kye solves her problems through drinking, but when it's all said and done will that be enough?

The book to me just seemed out of sync. It could be the way the characters came into the story that deviated from making the story interesting to me. I was just trying to keep up. Don't get me wrong, I agree that this book may be inspirational for women and men that are going through the scenario of the title of the book because I am sure there are a lot of women in the world now possibly suspecting their husbands of being involved with the sand. There was no action in the book, and it really didn't start getting interesting until around the 10th chapter and by chapter 14 it was on fire, but that's not a good thing when there are only 15 chapters in total. If you have read Private Affair or Choices and you pick this book up expecting the same action, you can forget about it. The scenario in this book is avoidance is not the answer.

What did you like Best about the book?

How the author focused on the ins and outs of church.

What did you dislike about the book?

It was a very slow read.
