5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasing to the Eye, and to the Heart....., April 12, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Rainbow Tiger (Hardcover)
Beautifully written and illustrated!

Both my second grader and I are in love with the story line and artwork! My child is thrilled to own this book, she actually begged for an additional copy to take to school and give to her teacher. I think the kids in her class have nearly worn out the copy as it is now among one of their favorites.

We are looking forward to seeing more charming tales by
Ms. Nordholm and Ms. Frohwerk.

All in all, a gentle, heartwarming moral to story, with captivating artwork-- a must own for your child's library.

5.0 out of 5 stars An imaginative modern-day picturebook fable, February 3, 2005
This review is from: The Rainbow Tiger (Hardcover)
Gayle Nordholm's The Rainbow Tiger is an imaginative modern-day picturebook fable about a tigress who longs to be beautiful. She wishes her coat could be rainbow-colored - but when her wish is granted, all the animals mock her, and she can no longer sneak up on her prey! On the verge of starving to death, she falls asleep regretting her foolish wish, and wakes up having learned a valuable lesson about being and appreciating oneself. The Rainbow Tiger includes a supplement of fun facts about real tigers rounding out this beautifully illustrated (Jennifer Frohwerk is a superb artist) picturebook story with a positive message about self-respect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertainment AND Education, April 13, 2002
By
This review is from: The Rainbow Tiger (Hardcover)
When a children's book blends entertainment, stimulates the imagination and also gently delivers an all-important social message, it is definitely worth sharing -- with everyone, regardless of age. The Rainbow Tiger is a book that adults will enjoy as much as the children. The brilliant and colorful illustrations are intriguing. I'm so tempted to frame them! The writing is superb and delightful and subtle in delivering its message. Both illustrator and author have special gifts that I wholeheartedly recommend you enjoy and share with friends and family. My nieces and nephews will be getting this book as gifts, and I'm sure that their parents will thank me every time their child chooses to read it or have it read to them! There is enjoyment in it for every age. Don't miss this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Rainbow Tiger, April 6, 2002
This review is from: The Rainbow Tiger (Hardcover)
I love this book because it is so beautifully written and illustrated, but also because it has such a valuable lesson for the kids. Wanting to be like someone else when who we are works the best for us is an important thing to realize. Thank you for this great book.

A great tale about the beauty in being oneself. I was especially blown away by the quality of the artwork. The magic of the story is captured in amazing watercolors. The tiger and other jungle animals seem to be alive on paper. This book is sure to caputure your child's imagination and it delivers a very positive message.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Fable and Wonderful story, February 4, 2002
By
This review is from: The Rainbow Tiger (Hardcover)
The Rainbow Tiger is just a wonderful children's storybook. The story of a tiger who longs to be more beautiful by being rainbow stripped. Her wish seemingly comes true and she finds out that being rainbow stripped isn't as wonderful as she imagined it to be. This book is written in the style of a fable and sends a wonderful message regarding happiness with the way we are made. The illustrations are beautiful and each page begs to be framed. The author says this is the first book in a series...I can't wait for the next!

Glowing water colors add to these beautiful paintings. Text flows well and font is large and easy to read. How did the tiger change colors "Well to this day she's still not sure if it was real or just a dream, . . ." Grades: Preschool - 3rd
