5.0 out of 5 stars Man, what a time..., September 19, 2005
This review is from: Raindancing (Audio CD)
Watch out--talk about the ability to hook your emotions to the current events in your life...
Far better than "Alf"...
Strong ALL the way through...
Don't be driving or alone with ANY member of the opposite sex for "sleep like breathing"
I think her music really suffers from CD to mp3...
Out of the three albums of hers that i've heard all the way, this is BY FAR the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of my collection, August 28, 1999
This review is from: Raindancing (Audio CD)
Too many five star reviews in here. But this one is really deserved. Alison Moyet has a rich and sultry voice which is not dimished by too much playing nor does her voice breed contempt through familiarity like every other female vocalist I can think of. This CD is a slice of my life and has seen me through more relationships and life changes than anything else I have in this existence.

In my dreams, Alison sings me to sleep. I'd give this one more stars if I could.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes folks, it is 80's,but still good., March 27, 2009
This review is from: Raindancing (Audio CD)
I never quite get people. I mean, what do you want? 'Album is dated,' 'Saddled with mid-eighties sounds.' Please people, get a clue! This album was recoded in mid-eighties and most albums from that time are riddled with synthed sounds, just like TV shows of that time are riddled with big hair and shoulder pads. Just like albums in the late nineties and early 00's are riddled with 'unplugged' and today's albums will be faulted as being 'too dry and bassey' in their sound. But they sell for their time and, hopefully, stay alive. Moyet's vocals are as great as ever in this as in any of her albums. Her dissatisfaction with the album may stem from her well known own insecurities as an artist. And what artist doesn't have such? The best always do.

Moyet's voice is as sharp and innate as ever: However the sounds here are a bit dated. The production is the problem, not the material. Read more

I love the ballads mostly. Shout out to Patti Austin who recorded her "Honey For The Bees" on her Gettin' Away With Murder album.

2.0 out of 5 stars light weight
Compared to her work with Yazoo and her later solo work, this is empty, vapid and unfortunately saddled with that mid-eighties sound ( the preset synth sounds, the gated drums,... Read more
