There is no question that Burt Bacharach is a king in the world of pop music. I love hearing his tunes performed by great stars and his melodies are nothing short of sublime. However, I was surprised when I listened to "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head"--this is definitely not the original arrangement performed by B.J. Thomas! Of course, I suppose Burt Bacharach has his right to play with the arrangement and he certainly shows his creativity here; but I have to admit that while this is good, in my personal opinion his original versions of this ballad is much better. If you crave new treatments of these Burt Bacharach songs, then by all means go ahead and download this for your collection. After all, the creativity and new "sound" may well appeal to some listeners. However, if you are like me you'll only be lukewarm about this track. It's completely up to each individual listener! |
