Product Description
Raine Sweetwater, a fifteen-year-old Choctaw girl, watches her father pass away at bedside from a mysterious illness – with one last promise on his lips. He tells her that she will be cared for even in his daunting absence. A government worker enters as she is still in humble mourning. His message? Raine has been drafted by a federal lottery commission to be whisked away to study in the prestigious schools of “Geneva”: a massive space station of a city hundreds of light-years away. Geneva is spearheaded by an enigmatic sect of alien sentries that offer residence aboard their craft in exchange for the ability to study the skilled and talented humans that are lucky enough to be chosen.
But when Raine has numerous encounters with an oddball black-haired lass and a few late night romps with a mysterious young charmer, life at Geneva seems to hold secrets of a less poetic kind. Are the alien Chu’Kula really the noble and sincere hosts they bill themselves to be? Are debonair romancer Ignatio’s advances of pure motive? Is the dark beauty Truedy on Raine’s side or does she have an agenda of her own?
