4.0 out of 5 stars DID YOU MISS ME??, January 24, 2010

This review is from: Raining Cat Sitters and Dogs: A Dixie Hemingway Mystery (Dixie Hemingway Mysteries) (Hardcover)
I really like Blaize Clement's "Dixie Hemingway Mysteries". She has good main characters: Dixie, the pet sitter; Michael, Dixie's firefighter brother; Paco, Michael's soul mate and undercover cop. This time we get into Dixie's past and her feelings. Jaz is a waif that Dixie happens upon and Mo is an old high school "friend". Fun and adventure are had by all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blaize back on track, March 4, 2010

This review is from: Raining Cat Sitters and Dogs: A Dixie Hemingway Mystery (Dixie Hemingway Mysteries) (Hardcover)
After the fourth Dixie Hemmingway mystery faltered a bit in plot and mystery, this latest of the series is back on track as a great read. For the lovers of Siesta Key and Sarasota, there is just enough of the local flavor to keep up interest. The plot and action are up to the standards of the early novels in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful pet sitter mystery, December 31, 2010
In Siesta Key, Florida, former police officer turned pet sitter Dixie Hemingway goes to the vet to pick up Big Bubba, a fan of TV police dramas who shouts at the screen. While in the reception area Dixie meets hysterical teenager Jaz who brought in an injured wild rabbit. A man with her claiming to be her stepfather says he accidently hit the rabbit with his car.

Dixie's gut screams at her that something is not right with this pair. Soon afterward three punks assault Dixie demanding she tells them where Jaz is. Dixie consults with her boyfriend homicide detective Jean-Pierre Guidry, who says the trio is the prime suspects in the murder of an elderly man. The pair now fears for Jaz's life and begin a search for the girl before the street thugs find her.

The fifth Dixie Hemingway pet sitter mystery (see Even Cat Sitters Gets the Blues and Cat Sitter on a Hot Tin Roof) is a wonderful tale as Dixie knows Jaz is not her responsibility but once a cop always a cop. The story line engages the audience from the moment Big Bubba the African parrot gives Dixie and others a mouth full. Combining humor with a serious missing person's search, Blaize Clement provides a strong tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Softer Side, February 17, 2010

This review is from: Raining Cat Sitters and Dogs: A Dixie Hemingway Mystery (Dixie Hemingway Mysteries) (Hardcover)
Dixie Hemmingway continues on her pet-sitting rounds in Siesta Key. Although she has pretty much turned into a loner since her husband and little girl died, she is shown here with the many people who care about her.
When a former classmate, Mo, asks for her help, Dixie hesitantly agrees. She has plenty of time afterward to regret her part in helping Mo, and afterward, Dixie struggles to make peace with her decision.
Dixie's heart goes out to a young girl, Jaz. Getting involved in her life, Dixie worries as Jaz goes missing. Is she still alive or has she been taken by street thugs who have already proved they probably think nothing of taking lives?
Dixie proves that she is still capable of loving other people and letting them into her life, and this is a very satisfying triumph the reader will savor.

I just love this series. Dixie is a likeable gal as are her brother and his partner. This series is very well written, moves at a good pace and leaves me wanting more, more, more.

Dixie is a pet sitter who gets involved in murder mysteries all the time. Now she used to be a cop and she didn't get this involved so what has happened to Dixie. No one knows but she sure can stumble on some stuff. Little girls out and scared and no where to go. Street gangsters out in a residential small town unused to them or their ilk.Various and assorted pets you willlove as you meet them and in between taking care of all of these pets she manages to work at solving the mystery. God love her I just don't see how she does it and still have time to not have a romantic life.

A must read if you're a Dixie Hemmingway fan. However, my favorite is still Duplicity Dogged the Daschund.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Joy ToRead, February 10, 2010
This review is from: Raining Cat Sitters and Dogs: A Dixie Hemingway Mystery (Dixie Hemingway Mysteries) (Hardcover)
I enjoy the "Dixie Hemingway Series". The characters keep continuing to grow From book to book. For the most part the Series is clean(lacking a lot of sex and swearing). I like that Dixie isn't perfect and that she tries to do what she feels is best. Sometimes her best isn't always right. This series is just a joy to read!
