I've been using these dechlorinators now for 20 years. I used to have a Koi pond and invariably, I would forget when filling it. Thanks to the fact that the hose was connected to this filter, I never lost a fish. Every hose in my garden has one and I have now added the prefilter as well. You really want to preserve all the microbes in your soil. Do them a favor and take out the chlorine!

Just a warning about this filter, it not only removes chlorine, it removes calcium and magnesium from your water, among other potentially beneficial things. This might not be a problem if you are using an appropriate cal-mag supplement to your water (in the right amounts mind you) but if you are not your plants could become calcium and magnesium deficient very quickly without the natural amounts in tap water. For the majority of people, if chlorine is your major concern, a greater (and cheaper) benefit would probably be obtained by letting the water sit out for one to two days so the chlorine evaporates. The product works perfectly fine but be sure you know what you are using it for, if your tomato plants don't have a steady supply of calcium and magnesium the filtered water from this will cause them to start breaking down and dying after a couple of uses.

This may be unscientific but I am judging that this works because my plants are thriving AND my compost pile heats up fine when watered with dechlorinated water when using this product. Im in las vegas which highly chlorinates, so I think this product is working great.

When I was watering my garden with city water all of my plants died, turned yellow, or failed to produce fruit. Since using this filter everything has tripled in size and I have been able to harvest some of my product. I would recommend this to anyone on city water having a hard time with failing plants.

It works very well. I have this installed on one particular garden hose that we use exclusively for watering the garden and adding water to our aquaponics system in our greenhouse.

Pros:
+ IT WORKS
+ cartridges are easy to replace and last for a REALLY LONG TIME

Cons:
- it does reduce your water flow (I'd guess it dropped mine by about 25-30%)
- replacement cartridges will be an ongoing expense (it's still worth the cost)

This is one of those things that is hard to evaluate. You have no dramatic evidence that it is working. I have not had any problems with it, and I hope it is taking the chlorine out of my garden water, especially since I have a pond that needs to be refilled periodically. All the plants are alive and happy, so I guess there is not a lot of chlorine there.

So far so good. It's really expensive though and I haven't seen a big difference in my garden growth this year but I've only been using it for a few months, I'll have to do a complete comparison in the fall, with using regular water compare to filtered water before purchasing a filter.

Great product. Last year bought two different in-line dechlorinating filters for use in the garden; one for this area and one for that. And am now going to replace the other with this one. It is reversible on the line which is great. The filter is replaceable rather than having to buy an entirely new until which is great. and it removes chlorine. How do I know? Not only did I have the best garden in years, but the last time I went to use it the SMELL OF CHLORINE overwhelmed me. I've been using dechlorinated water in my garden for a full year now. In the winter, I let the water sit and the chlorine naturally evaporates. Then, when garden water useage increased, I used these filters. As a result, I've become very sensitive to the smell. When that chlorine smell hit me, I knew it was time to replace the cartridge. And whether it was a result of using this filter or not, I did not get powdery mildew on my squash plants until the rains came (I live in AZ), which is a first.
