The perfect children's book!,
This review is from: Rainstorm (Hardcover)
This is one of my all-time favorite books and my daughter's too. The illustrations are gorgeous...clean & simple, artistic yet restrained. The wordless illustrated pages narrate the story so clearly through simply illustrated frames. I love that this story plays out a timeless daydream/fantasy of adventure in a realistic way that both my 2 year old and I can imagine could actually happen. She has me read it to her several times a day and I never tire of it. It is the perfect children's book.

We loved The Red Book and now Rainstorm. Neither book has text, but the pictures tell the story wonderfully. Beautifully illustrated throughout; a timeless work of art.

Such a lovely book! I use it in therapy (I'm a speech language pathologist), and the kids love to make up their own words for it. This author has wonderful books!

Another finely crafted book from the hands of Barbara Lehman...I have 3 kids and these beautiful wordless books are read over and over, a different "reading" every time. You'll want them all.

Lovely Book to Spur the Imagination,

My granddaughter and I love this book! She is almost four years old and enjoys the progression of the story. She has great fun "reading" it to me. Originally I borrowed "Rainstorm" from the library and quickly realized I must buy the book for her. Positively enchanting.

It is difficult to find a children's book that not only has a beautiful story, but that tells it masterfully, as well. So often I find myself editing a story as I'm reading to my son so that the pace and plot keep his interest. With this book, I ended up "reading" it at least 5 or 6 times in a row with my son the very first time we opened the cover---and he's two! The illustrations are captivating and are perfectly paced and arranged to capture interest and propel the story. This author/illustrator has mastered the art of the narrative---and all without words. My son and I are captivated by it . Thank you!

This is my favorite Barbara Lehman book. Once we read one of her books, we had to have all of them.

Wordless book,
By Ulyyf "Connie" (NYC) - See all my reviews

Wordless picture books can be harder, in a way, than the other kind because you have to *think*.
Still, they're not impossible, and they're good practice for reading, you know. This one features a lonely boy who finds in his own home a tunnel to some friends. It's simply told, and easy to follow, although a little strange. My nieces enjoyed it quite a bit, and had fun pointing out the similarity between him visiting his friends and vice versa.

The images in this book are attractive. With no words, the book give creative license to the reader. My six-year-old granddaughter and two-year-old grandson both love this book, as do I. Each 'reading' can have a new twist. The two-year-old wants it in his pile of bedtime books every night.
