Fernanda is great! This album demonstrates the diversity of musical genres eminating from Brazil! Her mixture of funk, pop, samba, rock, rap etc are all qualities that define Brazilian music. Her infusion of Native rythms, instruments and thought give rise to Brazilian pride even to white-bread Americans while her lyrics convey messages about the life, times, society and culture of Brazil, and tudo e em portuges!!!!

Contemporary 1990s hip-hop/pop from Rio. Abreu is a dyed-blonde Deeeee-Lite type (...shall we call her Samba Spice?) who pals it up with Brazilian rocker Chico Science (he duets on one track). Abreu wrote or co-wrote about half the songs on here -- other contributions are made by the likes of Lenine and Carlinhos Brown. Overall this is a fairly creditable effort, with plenty of lush production and electric guitar quotes that range from Hendrix and Frampton to the O'Jays "Money"... Along with the slick novo musica, Abreu also peppers in a couple of traditional samba tracks, including a version of "Aquarela Brasileira" where she does a passable take at sounding like samba legend Clara Nunes. Good, though not earth-shaking, contemporary pop from a former member of the popular '80s BRock band, Blitz.

This is an amazing CD. The mix of samba, funk, hip-hop had never sounded this good before.
Fernanda, together with special guests such as CHICO SCIENCE, JORGE BEN, HERBERT VIANA and LENINE shows us some previously heard songs with a new, revitalized punch.

This is fresh news coming from this blessed musical country called Brazil.

I have listened to both Raio X and the previous da lata over and over the last couple of years.. I simply cannot get enough. The band and Fernanda are magic together, a very fantastic blend of so many styles! Brasilian music and beats, reggae, funk, and...uh, acid rock? Well, whatever.. anyway, this is some of the best music and one of the best bands i have ever heard. Most very excellent.

Fernanda Abreu , let yourself be seduced by her sounds and powerful voice, and the feeling ,.....the queen of the Brazilian underground scene, no doubt , take a walk into the misterious side of music.

Fernanda Abreu introduces a new rythm into Brazilian Music. Her songs are a fusion inbetween rap and samba, funk and soul. Very different style, very good arrangings. It is exotic and pop at the same time.
