Fabulous album that covers the whole spectrum of Americana., May 5, 1999

Bill Kirchen demonstrates a mastery of many styles: his idiosyncratic 'dieselbilly', hard country, swamp rock, border pop and the soul ballad. Most songs are originals, the best co-written with his wife, Louise ( who also duets on a Blackie Farrell tune ). This is an album that delights thru and thru; naming a favorite song is nearly impossible ( though the clever country swing of 'Big Hat, No Cattle' - hello, George Strait - sure makes me hit that replay button ). That an artist as talented and engaging as Bill Kirchen can't get played all over the radio is a crime; this album proves it.

what a talent!, January 1, 2009
I've seen bill perform since my college days in the 70's and a few times in the jersey area lately. I said it years ago and it still holds true today that Bill Kirchen is a talented vocalist, song writer and one of the leading guitar players you will ever hear.I saw him in December in Bordentown, nj and he was awesome. he played an instumental of silent night that was a combination of rock, jazz and surf guitar. if you have a chance check out one of his shows. you won't be disapointed. this album is great along with any other by bill.I have them all.

OK, but not what I want from Bill K., February 12, 2010
This review is from: Raise a Ruckus (Audio CD)
Some nice country ditties, some sensitive tunes, but we need to hear much more of what Bill does best: songs about truck drivers, black coffee and truck stops, graveyards and diesel fuel, truck drivers with girlfriends all over, etc.
Bill's trying to be an all around songwriter guy here and does an ok job, but it just sounds like so much other music out there. So please Bill, MORE DIESELCASTER, MORE TRUCKABILLY PLEASE!!! That kind of music is getting hard to find.
