Book Description

Success in studying isn't difficult. But one must first learn the secrets of "how to study." Why is it that every new teacher one inherits along the path to graduating high school has assumed that the teachers from the past grades have taught their students how to study? They may have taught course content, but not the way in which one learns the content. Because of this, students are working in ways that do not maximize their true potential. Raise Your GPA 1 Full Grade helps create an even playing field for all learners. The areas covered in this text are: time management, listening skills/note taking, reading for speed and comprehension, writing with a purpose, taking the fear out of examinations, how to outline, using mnemonics, and how to use resources (library, Internet, dictionary etc.) Raise Your GPA 1 Full Grade calls for no extra homework, and is as easy to use as working your way around the Monopoly board and collecting $200.00. It's nice when someone learns they can succeed!

5.0 out of 5 stars simply wonderful, July 11, 2010
This review is from: Raise Your GPA 1 Full Grade (Paperback)
I recently read "How to Raise Your GPA 1 Full Grade". This should be mandatory reading for all students making the transition from middle to high school. It is the kind of material that teachers are not/do not have the time/or curricula just hasn't accounted for. It is the hidden material so many students never get, thereby keeeping them from learning "how to study". Like Dr. Anhalt states, without learning "how to study" a student will never be able to learn course content.

Too many students go through 12 years of school and never become aware of how to take notes, how to read quickly and with comprehension, how to improve their lexicon, how to take a test, how to write a term paper, or the techniqes of mnemonics.

I wish I would have been aware of these study techniques when I was in high school ... and that was many many years ago. They weren't taught then and not today. I say that because I am a college professor, and every year my new students are more and more in need of Dr. Anhalt's skill sets.
