My friend gave me this cd,Im into all the britpop bands and we were talking about all the bands that have lost thier way(the tears, the last few belle and sabestian cds, travis, ect)so he handed my this cd by Voxtrot and said this is what all those bands should be doing.I was amazed by what I was hearing.Voxtrot capture the sound of many britpop bands(smiths,b & s ,travis) and add to it.The first thing I thought was Morrissey should have these guys open for him.Its that good.I love Raised by wolves and long haul.Buy this

5.0 out of 5 stars my new addiction, June 9, 2006
This review is from: Raised by Wolves (Audio CD)
i saw this band open for elefant. they were actually better than elefant. their energy is so apparent on stage not to mention in their songs. all the songs are amazing and different and upbeat with wondrous and witty lyrics. they are reminiscent of the smiths, belle & sebastian and new order, amongst other great bands. i haven't been taken with a band like this in 5 years. they are definitely worth checking out.

5.0 out of 5 stars First EP from this Austin, Texas band makes with the happy, April 26, 2007
This review is from: Raised by Wolves (Audio CD)
Tired of dark, heavy indie rock about brakeups and breakdowns? "Raised by Wolves" is the perfect alternative for you. This 5 song EP makes with the happy without ever losing a beat. The title track sets the tone with it's fast drum beat and jangly guitar. Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist, Ramesh Srivasta knows how to write hooks and melodies guaranteed to keep you humming for days, and his lyrics, though often about brakeups and breakdowns are uplifting and confident. While they have garnered many comparisons to '80's acts like the Smiths (most probably because the second track, The Start of Something, sounds like it could easily be a Smith's B-side) more recent releases have shown Voxtrot are exploring and creating their own sound. This is an excellent introduction to a band that will soon be getting national attention. Finally, if you get a chance to see them live, don't miss it. I was fortunate enough to catch them at a small club, a day after they opened for Elefant in San Francisco. They were brilliant and did an incredible cover of "Love Vigilantes" by New Order.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shake your booty and hold your mama's hand!, April 30, 2006
This review is from: Raised by Wolves (Audio CD)
This band is band of the new century for me! Great, catchy, fun, HAPPY; if you like good feeling smiths, cure etc you'll probably like these guys. I'm into new 80s stuff like the killers, bravery, hot hot heat, editors, etc... but I really, absolutely, positively LOVE these guys's style!!!!!! It's a change from the dark dancy, but you still wanna get down! If they combined their last two cds, it would have made for a great album!!!! Have a listen; i promise, you wont be sad.

4.0 out of 5 stars worth purchasing, February 3, 2006
This review is from: Raised by Wolves (Audio CD)
such playful arrangements make it hard for the listener not to fall in love with this album, i love the ep and hope for a full length album soon, "the start of something" is truly a masterpiece in itself, their lo fi retro style really wouldnt be out of place on a garage sale vinyl rack, im happy with the purchase and would reccomend to britpop/pop music lovers everywhere

5.0 out of 5 stars Pardon the cheesy review title, but this looks like the start of something really beautiful..., October 24, 2007
This review is from: Raised by Wolves (Audio CD)
It's times like these that make me proud to be a Texan (and an Austinite, to boot! Although I am currently living in exile from my beloved hometown...). Anyway, Voxtrot's debut release sounds like a collection of lost Smiths songs, performed with shimmering virtuosity by a band of fresh-faced lads with an instinctive knack for emotionally resonant pop hooks and dreamy melodies. Just listen to the achingly beautiful "The Start Of Something" whose spine-tingling melody manages to enhance all of the good lines ("I'd break the law once every weak to feel your touch") and neutralize all the cheesy ones ("Won't you come by and see me/ I'm a love letter away"). The title track fuses a straight-ahead rhythmic charge with some swirling guitars and a few heartbreaking twists of melody, as well as some playfully cynical lyrics. "Missing Pieces" is charging, dramatic, and unashamedly cathartic, while "The Long Haul" is an understated, dreamy confection. The fuzzy, hook-filled "Wrecking Force" brings the E.P. to a sumptuous close. Form start to finish, this is fantastic stuff. Indie-pop fans, rejoice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes Me Smile., March 19, 2006

I absolutely love this stuff. The Start of Something and Raised by Wolves are so uplifting that it even makes me want get up and dance, and not a whole lot of music can do that. It's just so catchy. Also there are some slower songs like Long Haul and Wrecking Force that are interesting. I think this band has the potential to become the next big thing, but still, that might take away some of their charm if they were to be superstars, I think they are better off being themselves.

Heard this group on local college station, and my ears instantly perked up. They sound a lot like the Smiths. Hopefully they release a full album soon. I'm waiting...
