From Library Journal
While fund-raising has always been a part of the educational experience, there is growing pressure for schools to supplement their budgets as state and local dollars continue to shrink. In this work, Gensheimer, an experienced volunteer, describes over 60 potentially successful fund-raising efforts designed for use at the elementary school level. The projects, ranging from relatively simple efforts such as plant sales and ice cream socials to complex undertakings like auctions and carnivals, are carefully described from start to finish. Clarity of style and a wide sampling of relevant correspondence contribute to the practical nature of this impressively thorough handbook. Highly recommended. -- Linda Cullum, Lake Superior State Univ. Lib., Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

From Booklist
For all those PTAs, school boards, and home-school organizations stuck with reinventing fund-raising programs each year, here's a great resource. How do you organize a fun-fair, an academic marathon, or a gift-wrap sale? Gensheimer goes over the basics of planning, volunteer recruitment, activity organization, and soliciting contributions. Sample forms are supplied as well as names of companies that will supply materials or even handle the whole function. Now when the offspring of the long-tenured head of the fund-raising program graduates, the system need not fall into chaos. Denise Perry Donavin
