Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

This award-winning book has been recognized with a "Family Approved" designation from The Dove Foundation, the Seal of Approval from the National Parenting Center, and the iParenitng Media "Excellent Products" Award. The authors have also been featured on numerous radio and television programs, including the Dr. Laura radio show and in Woman's Day magazine. However, the greatest measure of success is the impact this book is having on individuals and families, helping them cope with the negative influences in today's world and emerge with happier, "G-Rated" families.

This is an outstanding book filled with a whole lot of common sense.

It made me stop and think about my children and what I could do to make them become better students, citizens and kids.

Personally, I'd rate America (can't comment on other countries as I haven't been to them) as a PG-13 world.

How is this world X-rated? To say that this world is X-rated implies that there is porn visible everywhere and the only way to avoid it is to hide in a monastery or a cave. That seems to be what Mr. Hatch has in mind, and what he actually believes.

Personally, I'd rate America (can't comment on other countries as I haven't been to them) as a PG-13 world. Yes, there's some sex/suggestive material in a some ads and the like, but there is nothing so blatant out in the open so as to be X-rated. All X-rated stuff can be found on Internet pr0n sites, 'adult' bookstores, and the like. I've never seen X-rated stuff out in public, so I'm not sure what Mr. Hatch is going on about. But then, this is the man who also endorses the 'No Cussing Club', so it's clear that Mr. Hatch is far too sensitive. Of course, kids need to be shielded from certain things, but that takes commonsense and judging on a child's age and maturity. There's some decent tips in the book, but most of it is extremely conservative and silly.

G-rated family? Really? Honestly, if my entire life was G-rated, I'd be bored out of my mind. My parents (for the most part) did an good job of shielding me (as was appropriate for whatever my age was at that time) and they certainly weren't G-rated. This book is no better than the one written by his son. Want to raise your family right? USE COMMON SENSE. It's not that hard, folks. At least, I'd like to think so, since commonsense apparently isn't as common as it sounds. After all, his son founded the No Cussing Club. Nuff said.

First off, this book sucks. There is no true way to raise your family in an "X-Rated world", and if you look around you, the world isn't really all that X-Rated. Nobody cusses all the time, none of the billboards use naughty language and you might even spit out a swear word without you realizing. The best way to raise them is to teach them about the dangers before they discover it and improperly use it, not try to sugercoat everything like the "G-Rated world" they live in. Common sense and knowledge is the only things a parent need, not this book. Do not buy at all costs, save your money!

The title really does say it all. This person is feeling entitled that the world is serving to them because they popped out a kid. No. I won't be kind to you because you decided to get a tax deduction out of your nether regions.

This book is outstanding. It represents all the Christian values used by the founders of the United States. It gives the reader excellent ideas that can help make a happy family even happier.
Stories and comments bring into focus the importance of the family unit. The authors have been honest and sincere about their own experiences. It is so refreshing to hear about two young people raising such a large family. It surely takes unbelievable courage to bring seven children into this world.
Brent and Pheleica are wonderful examples. They are, without question, qualified to offer advise and council. They remain humble and willing to learn as they raise their wonderful family.
Everyone should read this book.

I've loved all of the ideas in this book on how to create a protected family that is heading in a different direction than today's non-G rated world. The book is laid out in conversation form where Brent and Felicia tell their stories about how they've successfully raised 7 non-homeschooled children while protecting their children's innocence and guarding their children's exposure to "too much too soon" in media. There were so many things I love about this book... the hug card, the band-aids on the refridgerator, the family nights, the 1 hour media/1 hour something else.... There are so many fantastic ways to let your child be "in" the world, and not overly sheltered, but protected, controlled and the communication lines are open between parent and child. I find that there can be a fine balance between letting your children be a part of regular schools (not private or religious), letting them play with the neighbors, and also making sure your family values are being instilled and are making impact. This is a great book for parents who can not afford private schools (or can't homeschool), but need to find other ways to keep their family values strong, and it is also for people that don't feel confident in making family values/rules and want to start. I highly recommend this book. As a side note: ((I have seen this book on Ebay for $1.00))

This book provides neat insights from experienced parents. It served as a friendly reminder to stay with the time-proven basics in parenting, despite the onslaught of filth in the world.

This book is a God send. It displays an uncommon common sense about raising and rearing a family. It delves into the subjects that trouble a parents mind from how to communicate with your children to the fear of child abuse. With a well layed out format it flows from subject to subject so easily that I found myself reading the whole book in a single sitting. Yet time and time again I have also found myself refuring back to it for more advice which I have inevitably been able to find. The book even goes as far as to present you with a "report card" that your kids can fill out. It reviews how much time you spend with them, how loved they feel, and many other important issues. I was amazed at how much I learned from this simple idea. All in all, I was very glad that I took a chance on this book. The title caught my attention but it is the contents that have made such a difference in my life.
