5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and inspiring book, filled with wisdom.
This is such a great "can't put down" book for those truely seeking God's best for their children. Practical suggestions and methods. Some of the things we were already doing, but we were reminded of so many things that we tend to let slide as busy parents. I highly recommend this book. I'm ordering 4 more to give to friends.

2.0 out of 5 stars Correct theory that doesn't work
OK, I went to this guy's church back when this book was first popular, so I know what I'm talking about here. First thing you should know is that the author's daughter became rebellious and left home, and if I remember correctly, she also became pregnant (though I could be wrong on the latter). If his theories worked, how come his own daughter was as if she had never been...

I have bought this book for the 5th time. This book has impacted my life so much. I share this book with all new mom's or Mom's that are having trouble with their kids and ask me how I raised respectful children. I love how this book explains biblical parenting concepts as far as "DO's and Don't's" and tells how we can apply that to our kids. Who better to know how to raise well rounded children than God, our creator? My kids actually brag on the way they were disciplined. God is good!

OK, I went to this guy's church back when this book was first popular, so I know what I'm talking about here. First thing you should know is that the author's daughter became rebellious and left home, and if I remember correctly, she also became pregnant (though I could be wrong on the latter). If his theories worked, how come his own daughter was as if she had never been trained? Anyways, this was such a major embarrassment that the denomination forced Benny Phillips to step down as senior pastor of Fairfax Covenant Church (one of the biggest PDI churches at the time). His book was also taken off the shelves in all PDI bookstores. Further, everyone I know who followed Phillip's teachings has problems with their kids. There is no family I know who had success with his book.

I'm just warning you that when the author of a parenting book was a failure himself in parenting, that discredits everything he has to say about how to raise children. Look elsewhere for proper Christian teaching on raising your kids.
