A Life-Changing Book!,
By
This review is from: Raising Maidens of Virtue: A Study of Feminine Loveliness for Mothers and Daughters (Hardcover)
My daughters and I used Mrs. McDonald's book as a devotional by reading one chapter a day. Her words were thought-provoking and so scripturally inspired that we would spend many hours in wonderful discussion afterwards. It was a great tool to open up the communication between my daughters and I about what it truly means to be a Godly woman and how to withstand the pressures put on women in today's culture. I have seen tremendous changes in my daughters as a result of studying this book with them. Truly a GREAT book!

For parents wanting only the best for their daughters,

This review is from: Raising Maidens of Virtue: A Study of Feminine Loveliness for Mothers and Daughters (Hardcover)
It has always been a primary task of Christian parenthood that fathers and mothers raise their daughters to grow up exhibiting such moral values and personal behaviors as modesty, purity, cleanliness, compassion, industriousness, courtesy, guarded of speech, peaceable with their siblings, honoring their parents, and keeping faith with their God. These are all attributes ascribed to biblically based standards of feminine beauty both in appearance and in conduct. In Raising Maidens Of Virtue: A Study Of Feminine Loveliness For Mothers And Daughters, wife and homeschooling mother of nine uses stories, conversational teachings, illustrations, and memory-making projects to aid mothers in teaching their daughters on how to best comport themselves as Christian women and to deal with the inevitable decisions that will confront those daughters with respect to family life, peer relations, courtship, marriage, and all other aspects of womanhood in the world today. Raising Maidens Of Virtue is strongly recommended reading for parents wanting only the best for their daughters and seeking to help their daughters to want only the best for themselves.

I recently enjoyed reading Stacy McDonald's new book. I am a Christian homeschooling mom looking to encourage my young daughter to put aside the ways of the world and to take on the character of a godly woman.
This study definitely suits that purpose. Although my daughter is still a bit young to do the study together, I personally benefitted from the instruction and encouragement woven through the pages of the book. The day will come soon when my young maiden and I can enjoy it together. For those truly seeking to be women who are in the world but not of it, you should find this study very profitable.

If you would like help in raising your daughters to live their lives according to God's Word, this book will be a wonderful addition to your library! It is well written, beautifully illustrated, encouraging and challenging. My oldest daughter (15) and I have enjoyed discussing all the topics brought up and have found interesting insights always backed with scripture. The author uses a gentle approach to exhort us to persevere in living as daughters of the King.

I am a mom with daughters. We have been blessed in a big way by this work.. It is most definately God's revealed will for women called by His name and the maidens we have been entrusted by Him to raise (this revealed will which is forgotten or misrepresented so often.) women called by His name....read His word for yourselves! "Titus 2, Proverbs 31 and reflected all through His Word". His Word resounds with His purposes and plans for women in relation to our places in the Kingdom... modesty and propriety and self sacrifice is all but, if not shunned in this modern age. This, even among professing believers.
What a travesty, though making this book shine even brighter!

A standard of feminine loveliness,

This is an excellent study for mothers and daughters, or for older daughters, or just women who are seeking encouragement in their femininity. It seems to be written for a 13-17 age group, but older girls can be inspired by it, as well.
Chapters cover relationships in and outside the home, ethics, ideals, homemaking, purity, and, of course, femininity. Most chapters include an anecdote, a discussion of the topic, and questions for further conversation. There are projects and activities at the back of the book, along with lists of other books and resources.

I have seven daughters - the youngest is 8 and the oldest is 29. My younger daughters and I are reading (AND enjoying!) Raising Maidens of Virtue together. It has been thought-provoking, and has helped my older girls build closer relationships with their younger siblings.
I highly recommend it! Janet Billson

My daughter and I are so enjoying our time together reading Raising Maidens of Virtue, we're even reading it slow so it lasts longer! Thank you for putting this together for us, I truly consider it one of the most important books I could read and especially since I can share it with my daughter (she's 15). Stacy knows exactly how to word the precious thoughts and feelings that we all share raising our sweet daughters, this is certainly a book that will be shared through the generations.

Thank you to Mrs. McDonald for writing such a needed book for mothers and daughters. This book is not only enjoyable to read, but it also puts the concepts of modesty, purity, resourcefulness and homemaking into practical, easy to understand language so that our young maidens can envision themselves living in such a manner. Mrs. McDonald paints a desirable picture for our girls to imitate using Scripture as well as examples from her own family filled with maidens of virtue. A delightful read!
