Review

"What children are taught to respect, they value; the more they value people, ideas, and even things, the more meaningful their lives become. Raising Respectful Children in a Disrespectful World is the book every parent should read to ensure that their children will become blessings to the world."Dr. Laura Schlessinger -- Internationally Syndicated Talk-Show Host; Author, Bad Childhood--Good Life

"Jill Rigby tells us in practical words what we all need to not only hear but do. This book should be required reading for all parents."Kathie Lee Gifford -- Playwrite, Songwriter, Actress

"In this age of overindulgence and underparenting, Raising Respectful Children in a Disrespectful World gives sound advice that will transform your family. With courage and conviction, Jill Rigby debunks many of the conventional beliefs in child rearing, replacing them with the wisdom of experience."Dr. Kevin Leman -- Author, Making Children Mind without Losing Yours

"If you're concerned about the negative effect popular culture is having on America's children, and you want to know what you can do to prevent your child from falling under its sway, then you need to read this book and you need to do what Jill Rigby says, because she's right -- and that's all there is to it."John Rosemond -- Author, Family Building: The Five Fundamentals of Effective Parenting

"In a world where permissive misbehavior is more the rule than the exception. . . at a time when so many parents have opted out, Jill Rigby comes along with a marvelous ray of hope for all who have accepted the responsibility of guiding those who will lead the next generation." H. B. London -- Vice President, Focus on the Family

"Jill explains what it means to raise children of purpose, as she shares practical, how-to, godly principles to help parents teach their children to have self-respect and to respect others."Dennis Rainey -- President, FamilyLife

"With a kindness unlike anyone I've ever known, Jill urges children to live lives they can be proud of, lives that will make a difference for the kingdom of God. Parents can now experience the blessing from her years of work and vast knowledge in how to raise respectful children in the disrespectful world they must grow up in."Eva Marie Everson -- Speaker; Author, Sex, Lies, and the Media and Sex, Lies, and High School

5.0 out of 5 stars Seasoned Advice for Every Parent, November 18, 2006
Across the country with her Manners of the Heart program, Jill Rigby has taught and lived the lessons in RAISING RESPECTFUL CHILDREN IN A DISRESPECTFUL WORLD. This book is a powerful mixture of personal stories, careful research and applicable information for parents. The basic principles in this book such as Coach: Don't Cheerlead; Set Boundaries without Building Walls; Use Discipline, Not Punishment; Engage, Don't Entertain; Teach Gratefulness, Not Greediness; and Listen to the Children are solid. Each chapter includes a "Reality Check" for the reader to apply the teaching to their own family.

I expect parents will read and re-read this book because it's loaded with valuable insight.

If only every parent could have this book. I could not put it down. I applied what I read and noticed immediate results. I get a lot of comments on how polite my three year old is. This book taught me realistic ways to teach my child respect and it has made my life so much more enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL BOOK!, October 18, 2006

I read this book in one sitting and have constantly referred to pages I have earmarked for guidance. It is practical and helps parents be better parents and the end result is better children. We all have seen how disrespectful the majority of kids are today and with Ms. Rigby's book, I think we can all benefit from this and help our kids become responsible, delightful adults.
