See [...] for recall by the UK of this and other rajah products; search Sudan 1 to find all brands.

You can search further and get the onsite inspection results-- insects and rodents and stuff.

The product website now includes disclaimers about ingredients-- so I have no confidence they have removed the Sudan 1.

I agree with all the other reviewers-- the best ever tandoori blend. I am hugely disappointed. I was hoping I would find some info that they positively took out the Sudan I, but all I found was a set of disclaimers.

I found that Schilling Curry has the same general order of ingredients, does not have the bright orange color, so that is my substitute for now.Rajah Tandoori Masala 100g (3.5oz) - Pack of 2 Tins

I use this Tandoori spice mix whenever I make Tandoori chicken or lamb. The mix is a red powder. Mix 4 heaping teaspoons of spice mix with 2 Tablespoons each of: vegetable oil, lemon juice, vinegar, and plain yogurt. Mix well. I place the meat in a 1 gal freezer bag and pour the marinade over it. Mix well so that all the meat is coated. Refrigerate several hours or overnight. If I'm making marsala sauce, I chop a large onion and sauté in a skillet. When the onion has sweated, I add some chopped garlic and chopped ginger to taste. Then I add ~ 2 Tablespoons of curry powder and fry it up with the other ingredients to release the oils. Then add ~1 cup of chicken stock and 1/2 cup of heavy cream.

Cook the meat in the oven at 400 F for about 45 min. Add the remaining marinade from the plastic bag to the skillet. When the meat is done, add it and the juices to the skillet. Simmer covered for 30-45 min. Add more stock if needed. Check chicken for doneness with a thermometer. Serve the meat with the marsala over basmati rice.

Someone gave us the RaJah Tandorri Masala as a present and we used it in a recipe for chicken curry. WOW! We couldn't find it where we live so we bought it on line and it's fantastic - must have it once a week for dinner!

Rajah is the best in my opinion. I love doing a quick, easy stir fry with veggies and then adding this delicious spice toward the end. Get awsome taste with low cal, healthy vegetables. Makes them a beautiful color also.

This is the crown jewel of Rajah products for me. Always good, not too spicy, classic restaurant taste, a winner every time!

I have not used it much, but the dish I made was very tasty. I live it in the cabinet for inspiration.

3 Ingredients = This powder, some butter, and lemon.

Chicken Thighs with Skin AND with Bone In.
Use good chicken like Bell and Evans.

Put this powder on like a dry rub both under and over the skin
Melt some butter and poor over. Just to coat.
(I also try to get a little under the skin.)
Squeeze a little lemon

Throw in a large Ziplock bag or tupper ware.
Let Sit for an 60-90 minutes or more.. (out of the sun, fridge if you want)

Heat up a grill a slow cook the chicken over indirect heat for like 40 minutes.
(Nothing special here. Indirect Heat. Maybe High Heat to sear in juices) Turn every so often.

Serve with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes (add radish, fresh mint and/onion) that have marinated in during the cooking time in some fresh lemon juice (dash of sea salt and black pepper).
