This is a great book I found in a library years ago. Glad to have found a copy available here. Wonderful story for thinking about exponents (squaring).

a memorable childhood favorite,
This review is from: The Rajah's Rice: A Mathematical Folktale from India (Tales of Myth & Legend) (Hardcover)
I remember reading this book years ago as a child! It's a wonderful book for cultivating your child's interest in an otherwise boring subject--math. The concept of exponential numbers is beautifully interwoven with a kid-friendly story that will captivate your child's attention and teach them important mathematical concepts as well. Definitely worth reading, I would highly recommend it!
