A marvelously quick read,
This review is from: The Rake's Mistress (Harlequin Historical) (Mass Market Paperback)
Alone after her aunt and uncle die, Rebecca tries to carry on with the family glass cutting business. Unfortunately, all of her employees leave because they do not want to work for a woman and her orders all but disappear making life perilous for a young woman living on her own.
Lucas believes that Rebecca is a courtesan when he first meets her. He is investigating a smuggling ring and hasn't yet located the glass cutter that is helping the smugglers pass messages onto the French. Overall a very good read it's well written and although the chapters are long the book itself is an amazingly fast read. Once you start reading you won't want to put the book down until you are finished.

Did not work for me,
By Flower Girl (MN, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Rake's Mistress (Harlequin Historical) (Mass Market Paperback)
Unfortunatelly, this book didn't work for me--I thought it was too contemporary of Regency story, and the story dragged unnecessarily long. Although, the writing was decent, but the story was un-natural. It was not an engrossing read for me.
