From Booklist

Robert Devary, Marquess of Widmore, could run, but he can’t hide. Vaughn Everard believes the marquess knows something about Vaughn’s uncle death, and he is determined to wring the details out of the nobleman. The only problem is that, so far, the marquess has successfully eluded Vaughn. When Imogene Devary, the marquess’ daughter, impetuously asks Vaughn to dance at a ball one night, it provides him with the perfect opportunity to finally arrange a meeting with the nobleman. All Vaughn has to do is pretend to court Imogene and wait for his chance. The only flaw in Vaughn’s plan is that he doesn’t expect Imogene to be equally determined to prove her father innocent. Scott (The Captain’s Courtship, 2012) deftly integrates flawlessly researched period details and emotionally engaging characters into the captivating plot, making the latest installment in her Everard series an excellent choice for both historical-inspirational fans and readers who miss the old traditional Regency romances. --John Charles

I've really enjoyed "The Everard Legacy" series and, I have to say, I think The Rake's Redemption is my favorite in the series so far (I don't know whether or not there will be another book, but I'm hoping there will be one about Samantha).

One of the reasons why I probably enjoyed The Rake's Redemption so much is because Vaughn had really intrigued me in the past two books and I loved his character even more in this one. I was surprised by how much I liked Imogene Devary - she quickly became another favorite character of mine.

The story was really good and I had a hard time trying to figure out who was right about Imogene's father's guilt - Imogene or Vaughn.

I personally would have liked it if there would have been an epilogue or something (to show us how things are later on) and to have been told more about Samantha's season, but it was still great the way it was.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Rake's Redemption and recommend it if you enjoyed historical romances - it is a great one. I don't think you need to have read the first two books to enjoy The Rake's Redemption, but those books were also really good, so you might want to. :)

*I received a complimentary copy of this book for my review. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*

"Where was he?"

Lady Imogene Devary is puzzled by the stranger who has appeared at their door the past 3 days wanting to speak with her father. Even more curious is her father's point blank refusal to see the man. As her father won't talk about it, Imogene figures the best way to find out is to meet the man herself & find out from him what it is he wants. Here at the Mayweathers' ball, is a chance for her to find out.

Vaughn Everard is reluctant to involve Lady Imogene in his quest to get answers from her father about his uncle. However, he has no choice as the Marquess is becoming more difficult to pin down, & Lady Imogene stands ready to offer her friendship & help. For so long, he has believed Society's opinion of him being a rake, that he believes redemption is impossible, until a beautiful young lady's faith in him causes him to think otherwise.

I really loved this 3rd book in The Everard Legacy, an action, mystery & faith filled Regency romance, continuing the story from The Captain's Courtship, and clearing up the mysteries surrounding Lord Everard, his death, & the secrets he had kept. It was good to see Vaughn meet his match in Lady Imogene Devary & I appreciated how she believed in him, even when most of Society had given up on him. I also admired her depth & strength of character as circumstances involving her family & the Everards started getting horribly out of control.

The titles & ways of addressing titled people has been well researched throughout this series, although I'm not convinced Lady Imogene would have been referred to as "her ladyship" by her footman, but rather "my lady" as she is the daughter of the household not the lady of house.

This is a rather nice regency romance from the Love Inspired Historical stable. The hero Vaughn Everard is a charming, rather rakish poet with a tendency to the wild side and a history of duelling. Imogene is the daughter of the last Marquis of Widmore. The death of her brother when she was young brought her to a deeper spiritual understanding of God's place in her life.

The story evolved around the mysterious activities of Imogene's father and the dark suspicions held by Vaughn of the Marquesses role in his dearly loved uncles death. It is this mystery that keeps bringing the seemingly ill-matched lovers together. Inevitably Imogene's deep faith and outlook impact on Vaughn, helping him grow in character and grace.

As a love story it is quite sweet, but is often overwhelmed by the mystery. The spiritual aspects are quite well done once you get used to the use of internal dialogue to bring out the characters faith journey. This is my first Love Inspired Historical and I enjoyed it. It is the third in a series and you meet the characters from the 1st two books and the next story.
I received the ARC from Netgalley.

Before I get into my review, here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

Even infamous duelist and poet Vaughn Everard has qualms about dragging an innocent lady into his quest for revenge. But Imogene Devary is the daughter of the man suspected of murdering Vaughn's uncle. Surely that makes her fair game in order to uncover the truth!

Can the man who writes such moving verse be beyond redemption? Imogene can't believe so. In taming Vaughn's heart and healing the rift between their families, she's sure she's found her calling. Then his mission to unmask a killer reveals a terrifying plot. Only together can they safeguard his legacy, their newfound love and England's very future.

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Disclaimers: I received a temporary electronic copy of this novel from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks for letting me review this novel.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I will be honest. I really didn't expect to like this one all that much. I thought it would be cute but forgettable. I was dead wrong.

This book was hilariously funny and brilliantly written. I found myself laughing hysterically the entire time I read this novel. I love this era and I love it when I find a good book in the Napoleonic Era.

Imogene Devary has enough spunk to keep anybody's interest. And then there was Vaughn. I love a rogue who is really a good guy and that describes Vaughn perfectly. He wasn't society's perfect gentleman, yet he was a good guy who had his priorities right.

A novel full of intrigue, love, scandal, and betrayal set in the Regency era is bound to capture my attention. This one was hilarious, cute, and entertaining.
