5.0 out of 5 stars Bon Apetite!
The one thing that stands clearly out of my mind from this book was the amount of laughs I had. I remember, I was reading this book one night and an especially funny scene made me laugh so hard that tears came to my eyes. My mother thought that my laughs were cries and came running into my room, alarmed. When she found out that I was laughing so much over a book she...

3.0 out of 5 stars Makes me wonder why I keep reading romances.
Here's what the back says.
The Marquess of Torvelle was in a lather. And all because Mandalee Ashton had told her mama a little white lie: that Torvelle, the most notorious rake in the ton, had compromised her. In truth, she and he had never even met. But, to save her sister Constance from ruin, Mandalee had claimed that it was she and not Constance, who had...

The one thing that stands clearly out of my mind from this book was the amount of laughs I had. I remember, I was reading this book one night and an especially funny scene made me laugh so hard that tears came to my eyes. My mother thought that my laughs were cries and came running into my room, alarmed. When she found out that I was laughing so much over a book she shook her head in disgust and left my room. So my final words are: Read this book after you have finished eating dinner, for you're meal will be digested right away from all the laughing that you will do. Bon apetite!

5.0 out of 5 stars If You Want to Become Addicted, Read This, January 4, 2000

This was the first book I read by Cindy Holbrook and I've been hooked ever since. The characters are lovable, the situations are humorous and the story is just sweet. Finally a book where the characters really get to know each other instead of fighting till the end and then on a turn of a dime they are in love! This is the book I use to convert my friends into Regency Addicts and it's worked too! So curl up in your favorite chair and read this book that will warm your heart.

4.0 out of 5 stars Possibly my favorite Regency ever, July 1, 1998

This is easily Cindy Holbrook's best. Mandalee is a great heroine - Adam is completely loveable - their adventures are both amusing and bewitching.

I could not put this one down. I was reading this trying to keep the laughter down so I wouldn't wake my son. It wasn't easy. It was a great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars I bought it, read it and finished it one day-it's that good!, August 23, 1998

This review is from: A Rake's Reform (Paperback)
I couldn't put this book down-I just had to learn what will happen next in this so-called "Adventures of Adam and Mandalee In Love". I would laugh to myself and then sigh next and wish I WAS Mandalee. Adam is charming;what woman could not help but love him in the way he shows his caring for our very exuberant heroine. I just wish all the regencies I will be buying in the future would be half as good--more love and tlc and less pride & bickering.

Here's what the back says.
The Marquess of Torvelle was in a lather. And all because Mandalee Ashton had told her mama a little white lie: that Torvelle, the most notorious rake in the ton, had compromised her. In truth, she and he had never even met. But, to save her sister Constance from ruin, Mandalee had claimed that it was she and not Constance, who had been in the garden with a lover. After all, how could scandal hurt a confirmed spinster like Mandalee? And why would a rogue like Torvell notice such an insignificant blot on his not-so=sterling reputation?
How was Mandalee to know that Torvelle had been trying to convince the ton he was reformed! So she proposed a mock engagement. Torvelle would act the perfect gentleman, and she would play the adventuress... and jilt him! Now the Marquess had to teach Mandalee about kisses and champagne, card-playing and seduction. And Mandalee had to teach her heart not to break - for she was falling scandalously in love!
