4.0 out of 5 stars Smaller than you think
This is a bag which really forces you to pack light. Even after reading the dimensions, I was surprised to find out that it will not accomodate a few sheets of letter size paper unfolded. In the long run, however, it has rid me of the habit of keeping lots of junk in my bag. I end up actually filing things, instead of carrying them around for weeks...The construction...

3.0 out of 5 stars Poorly Sewn, Poorly Padded BUT Rightly Designed & Priced!!
The bag seems to be designed nicely in terms of compartments and layout, but it is sloppily sewn and is by no means padded. This may not be an issue for many folks.

I broke out the needle and thread (and fabric glue for the hard to resew cell phone belt loop/bag strap fabric) and I hope all remains well.

I'm 6'2" and weigh in at 280 lbs., and the strap is barely big...

I carry a PDA in a case, sunglasses, some other gadgets, and it works well. Can't really go wrong for the price too.

I'm 6'2" and weigh in at 280 lbs., and the strap is barely big enough for me to use. This bag is a perfect fit for the size notebook I like to take notes in - as a writer, it seems like it will work well for me as part of a "bag within a bag" setup where the RakGear Bakku Messenger Bag is nestled inside a larger bag that carries digital camera/DV cam, PDA accessories, mics, MD recorder, file folders, executive legal pad et cetera - I'll make the RakGear bag hold the essentials for those times when I have to go in "light". I dunno - I'm in a bag theory quandary.

Works well for Handspring Visor accessories too. Maybe a couple O'Reilly Pocket Reference books or City Lights pocket poetry books. When I add my MD, CD and/or MP3 player, and I feel like I am pushing the limits of safe usability - mostly because of the lack of padding.

On-line, lots of people seem to like this bag - maybe I am on the search for the holy (small gadget) technology bag of all time, but I'm not sure if I'll buy more product from Targus. It'll come down to how vulnerable I feel that my Palm OS PDA and my MD player is in this non-padded bag. Another VERY important factor will be how well the stitching stays stitched - I'm not too confident on this front, considering the restitching I've had to do already.

The bag looks good on-line, gets great reviews, I just felt let down once I handled the product... Maybe I'll be surprised with further usage.

The bottom-line is that this bag is now in clearance. I got mine as gift. At ... or less, this bag is a must have, even if just to satisfy a bag-lust. Worked for me. Maybe I'll be able to comment on durability and lack of padding after extended use. Probably no need to bother. Hope this review is helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Holds more than it seems, August 29, 2002
By A Customer
I bought this bag and use it for my commute back and forth to work. I can't believe how much this bag holds and I like the storage pockets and zippered areas. It allows me to bring the necessities that I truly need to and from work.

I live in NYC and have a ton of gadgets, very hard to find in a regular bag.
THis is pretty cool, since you kinda compartmentize everything and its convenient to find the stuff you need.

This is a great quality bag if you can get it for under ten dollars. Nice, light-weight, utility bag.
