My son and I camp and ride dirt bikes in remote areas and this power pack is the answer to all our power sources. It totally silent and runs and charges all our equipt at night and charges itself during the day while we ride. As a certified FEMA disaster commander I highly recommend this for all your power needs. I have shown this to friends and everyone ask to borrow it for their next camping adventure, even my father found it a handy device and toyed with it for a hour and that says it all. Glenn W.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good little unit, September 21, 2010

Does pretty much everything promised. Good for light applications. Solar charger is a slow trickle, but keeps working in very low light - keeps the charge at about 13V if I store it near a window in a normally lit room. If you use it a lot you really want to charge it with the AC charger as solar would take several days. However leaving in strong direct (California) sunlight after use - eg pumping bike tires for 5-10 minutes, you will see a noticable pickup in power after a couple of hours, just from the solar panel. detachable flashlight is excellent but took me a long time to figure out how to switch it on - press the lamp lens inwards. Wasnt in the instructions. usb port doesnt seem to give enough power to charge my iphone (pulls 5-6W) (I have the same problem with my Wagan powerdome, but not Xantrex) so I use the cigarette lighter ports for that instead.

I have 3 power units (Wagan, Xantrex and this Rally), but this is the one I use the most. Would be nice to see a version with more Amp Hour capactiy (this has 12) and enough crank amps to jump a really dead car battery, this will only do a moderately dead battery. Wagan has most Crank Amps and Amp Hrs (18). Xantrex has a slightly faster solar charger but no air pump or jumper cables (and is more expensive), yet I tend to use this Rally - it has a more useful combination of functions for me, and the solar tops itself up after light use (and maintains its charge if not used for a couple of months) without having to connect it to a charger or meddle with a detachable solar panel.
