Wow! Where has Marc Hansen Been?,

I remember Ralph Snart from NOW Comics back in the 80's. It was funny then and I forgot just HOW funny it is. I picked this book up recently and found myself laughing my head off reading it. Although it is Collection #1 it really starts in the middle of the story, but WHO CARES! This frenetic energy driven story is just plain crazy funny! Things happen that just plain make no sense, but you do not care because you are laughing so hard.
Marc Hansens unparalleled black and white Comic art is reminiscent of Jack Kirby only more energetic. (If such a thing is possible.) It is the perfect companion to his insane story telling. Ralph stumbles from one insane situation to the next in search of beer throughout this volume. He dies at least once, has his brain disintegrate, I just can't describe it... It is a must read. Warning: It is NOT for everyone. Ralph is basically a crazy grown up frat boy who loves ot drink stumbling from one impossible situation to the next. Women are not depicted positively in this book. But then again, no one is. If you REALLY take offense at how this book portrays wives, mental health professionals, police, mad scientists, Socks the Clinton's, cat, Fairy God Lizards, or anyone else in here, then you take life way, WAY too seriously. Sit back and laugh already! According to Marc Hansen's Web site he plans on publishing 8 of these books. I plan to buy each one. |
