3.0 out of 5 stars Just Okay **Spoilers** September 20, 2010
By C. Gore
Format:Kindle Edition
I don't think I was as enamored with this book as other readers. This is a sci-fi romance, whith plenty of action and adventure. I was very excited to read this book when I initally bought it, but after reading I think I enjoyed the concept more than the execution. For me there was a disconnect that probably could have been remedy with a bit more detail. When I think about the book only being 89 pages (on my e-reader) and how much happened (several fight scenes, several love scenes, a change in location, and a couple of misunderstandings between the main characters) there was a lot that happened with minimal descriptive detail.

There were a couple of times that I found myself rolling my eyes at Ariel, the heroine. For instance when she asks him why Ral (the alpha male) won't return her to his own world. At first she's "furious" but after a brief explanation from him that boiled to "ehh, I'm not sure if I could find it" and "you're mine", emotionally she capitulates since afterall she's known him a month and can't imagine life without him. If that's the case then what was there to be furious over in the first place? That was one place that a little more description of the true reasons behind the emotion would have helped. Maybe she was worried about being discarded by him on his planet; maybe she was upset because she'd received no reassurances from him in the time they traveled; maybe she thought about it and her life on Earth wasn't hard to leave behind for a variety of reasons?

Editing wise, it could use a re-read. There were several spots where words were missing or an improper word was used. It didn't detract from the story, but it did get annoying after a while.

Overall, nothing about this book made me want to read the next in the series or anything else by this author. The writing was just okay and the plot was not as fleshed out as it could have been. That's not to say I won't read something else if it catches my interest, but I certainly won't seek anything out by this author and I'll count my pennies before I buy another book by her.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sci-fi Romance June 27, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Ariel has been kidnapped by an alien race called the Anzon who are looking for compatible species to mate with. They discover humans are too fragile and she's given away as a prize in a gladiator-style fight created to amuse the Anzons.

Ral, a Zorn warrior, and some of his people were also captured and brought to the Anzon's planet to serve as slaves. When he sees Ariel, a human, he has to have her. The men from Ral's planet have darker skin than Ariel and are huge and well muscled. Since Ral is the strongest, it wasn't hard for him to win.

Although Ariel is afraid, she's attracted to Ral. Heck, even with his limited vocabulary, I was attracted to Ral. For such a huge guy, he's gentle and interested in pleasing his prize. Though the Anzon believed the Zorn lacking in intelligence, they are an advanced race. To be fair, the Anzon had every reason to believe so. Ral and his men were captured while on a primitive hunting planet. They had no idea the Zorn were more advanced, but they played dumb, waiting for a chance to escape.

RAL'S WOMAN is book one of the Zorn Warriors series. I'm not much into sci-fi romances, but I seriously loved this book. Okay, so it wasn't perfect. Ral has less of a vocabulary than Conan, the Barbarian and what he did say was constantly repeated. Even so, I didn't care and will be reading more of this series.

So far, there are four books:

Ral's Woman (Zorn Warriors, #1)
Kidnapping Casey (Zorn Warriors, #2)
Tempting Rever (Zorn Warriors, #3)
Berr's Vow (Zorn Warriors, #4)

5.0 out of 5 stars Ral's Woman May 5, 2010
By M. Nix
Format:Kindle Edition
A solitary walk in the woods turns into a nightmare of epic proportions for Ariel. She has been taken by the Anzons, an alien race searching the cosmos for females compatible with their species for breeding purposes. As it turns out, Earth women aren't compatible so Ariel is being given to the Zorn, their slaves.

The captured Zorn men greatly outnumber the captured Zorn women. Therefore, the Anzons make them fight for the privilege of owning the newest slave, Ariel. While the Zorn somewhat resemble humans, Ariel is still horrified by their barbaric behavior. The slave Ral wins Ariel after a brutal fight amongst the Zorn men. Ariel is still in shock over everything that's happened to her when Ral and the rest of the Zorn do something radically dangerous. All Ariel wants is to go home to her family and friends, but Ral has no intention of letting this fascinating human female go, ever.

Ral's Woman is a unique story with primal passion and several inventive surprises. The intense, sensual plotline in Ral's Woman reads as pure entertainment with Ral. a total alpha both hot and smart. The only real road bump is Ariel's rapid acceptance of her plight. She's unhappy about not returning home at the beginning, but never has a real fit about being kidnapped from Earth which seems kind of unrealistic. Having said that, Ral's Woman is a very sexy, highly absorbing page turner.

More About the Author

I'm a full time ''in house supervisor" (Sounds much better than plain ol' housewife), mother, and author. I've been lucky enough to have spent two decades with the love of my life and look forward to many, many more years with Mr. Laurann. I'm addicted to iced coffee, the occasional candy bar (or two), and trying to get at least five hours of sleep at night.

I love to write all kinds of stories. I think the best part about writing is the fact that real life is always uncertain, always tossing things at us that we have no control over, but when your write you can make sure there's always a happy ending. I love that about being an author. My favorite part is when I sit down at my computer desk, put on my headphones to listen to loud music to block out everything around me, so I can create worlds in front of me.
