This review is from: Ramadan and Id Al-Fitr (Best Holiday Books) (Library Binding)
"Ramadan and Id Al-Fitr (revised and updated)" of 2008, by Dianne MacMillan, 48 pgs, hardback, English. A short `book' serving as a brief introduction for pre-teens as to the prayer rituals that Muslims undergo for their religious holidays of Ramadan and Fitr. This hardback may not appeal to Muslims as its World Map uses the name of `Israel' instead of `Palestine' (which isn't used at all). The author is forthright about the Muslim Prophet Muhammad's powers: "He formed an army and his power grew. in the year 630, his army of ten thousand men marched on Mecca." The author BRIEFLY notes what the `Pillars of Islam' are, and BRIEFLY discusses the WHY of Ramadan and Fitr, and why the fasting. There is no discussion of moral values, or what Muslims are taught to `believe' as to what their Allah revealed to them through the Quran. Makes for a easy 7-minute read. Colorful pictures accompany the short text. Basic stuff that can be found on an internet site.
