I ordered this book because it was about a bunny ... and fell in love with it because of its wonderfully spiritual story. I consider it a "must read" for people at all stages along the spiritual path.

I'm am not one to take on critics because everyone has a right to his or her opinion, and I'm all for that. However, the Kirkus Review listed here is so particularly sarcastic, that I think potential readers of RAMAR should know how beautifully it has been received by thousands of readers, many of whom have written and called me with their thoughts and their thanks. I have even been told about people who , in the last days of their lives, have asked to have RAMAR read aloud to them again and again, and as the author, I find this remarkable. Now, printed in nine languages, RAMAR has received many, many wonderful reviews by critics who, rather than view it in terms of their own formula for effective story telling, feel the power and promise of what it says. But more than that, after two years, it is still going strong in the market, and its fans still write me, and that says more than anything! And please, you can write or E-Mail me, too. I was quite disappointed in this book, considering all of the positive word-of-mouth I was given. Beware of the hype on the cover of the book--this is not a spiritual adventure--it is an excercise in feel-good philosophy. A good story should have a sense of purpose and urgency, and this book has neither. Ramar and his friends are nothing more than thinly veiled disguises for the author and many others who have no definitive religious beliefs, and who then espouse their empty ideas in a book like this and label it "a spiritual adventure". If this sort of thing appeals to you, then by all means read this book. For the rest of us, I would advise you to save your time and money.

This book was an insipid fairy tale. The allegory was obvious and the language better suited to children. The idea of not taking responsibility for ones actions is repugnant to most Christians. Even followers of reincarnation, believe that each new incarnation is meant to atone for mistakes and habits of the immediate past life or a way of bettering one's soul until reaching nirvana or the Christian heaven. It is disturbing to think that this message is being sent to people who might be searching for spiritual solace for the first time. The best I can say about this book, is that it is an amusing little fairy tale with a scary message.

I am so happy that I have the opportunity to share my views of the beautifully written book, RAMAR, THE RABBIT WITH RAINBOW WINGS, by Darrell T. Hare. It has certainly been an inspiration to me and I am sure it will enrich the life of anyone who has the good fortune of reading it. Here is a wonderful story of love, happiness and learning. Highly recommended for everyone's reading enjoyment.

Ramar gently draws the reader into pondering the biggest questions of life. What came before? What follows? And especially what is going on right now? Its simple style and charming pictures (word and art) lead the way to consider life's mysteries without fear and Mr. Hare presents his answers in a manner both entertaining and convincing. To read this book is to become a happier person and spirit.

This is one of those rare books that speaks differently to each reader, yet speaks powerfully and beautifully to all. Everyone I have given this book to has loved it and passed it on to others. A great gift for anyone and any occasion, especially for yourself! Not yet found on many popular bookstore shelves so we are all fortunate to have found it here. I can not recommend this book highly enough

To me this was a story of life's journey about where we came from and where we are going. Although written like a fairy tale, it touched my soul and made me think that maybe fairy tales really come true. I didn't want it to end. I recommend it for all ages

This story, as are many such tales, is an allegory, a fairy tale, an outlet to reveal the author's religious beliefs. It was sometimes delightful to read, sometimes annoying. The language and setting are for children; the subject is for adults. Some of the bits of wisdom are universal truths, e.g., "whatever you sow, so shall you reap." The dominant message of a feel-good religion with little accountablility is disturbing, however. The concept that we are not punished in an afterlife for anything we do on earth-because it is a "learning experience"-is uncomfortable, because, while it may give solace to the truly contrite and repentant, it gives license to an "anything goes" morality. The author's obvious personal bias against organized religion is interesting, because he clearly affirms the spiritual (or divine, or "special") nature of the many teachers from those very religious traditions, including Christ and those yet to come. Some of the ideas about life-after-death that are expressed in this story are little more than tales one can hear related on television talk shows. This is not to say that these ideas lack substance, but they are nowhere close to being the profound revelations that the blurbs on the book cover would lead one to believe.
