4.0 out of 5 stars Bulbul sharma's ramayana
A remarkable book to educate my Indian American kids the story of ramayana. The author has written the book for kids but adults can also benefit.

3.0 out of 5 stars A fair enough children's Ramayana
This book is full of eye-catching illustrations. The story follows Valmiki's interpretation of the story of Rama. The vocabulary and usage of words in this book sometimes can be archaic and not so lucid. However, text still carries the story forward. The layout is very pleasing and inviting. All in all, a good reading and excellent introduction to one of the cornerstones...

5.0 out of 5 stars Ramayana a Wonderful Myth, June 2, 2009
By
This review is from: The Ramayana for Children (Hardcover)
Ramayana by Bulbul Sharma

One night I spotted it on the bookshelf at home. I just had to look inside a book with a title like "Ramayana" by Bulbul Sharma. When I read the first page of "Ramayana" I kept on reading!

The illustrations on the front cover were marvelous! The book was so detailed and so were the pictures. Bulbul Sharma really put himself to work to write "Ramayana"! This author used his imagination a lot!

"Ramayana" is about Prince Rama, his brother Prince Lakshmana and Sita, Rama's wife. I like how Rama respects everyone. I love how Bulbul Sharma tells how Rama gets banished by his father into the forest. Lakshmana and Sita refuse to stay behind. Then Sita gets carried away by a horrifying demon! I love how Rama doesn't care about being banished.

After reading this book, I still have some questions. Why would his own father send his favorite son away? I wonder why the book is called Ramayana?

I think this book is good for both adults and children who enjoy reading myths. If you like mythical creatures you will surely want to read this book. This book will bring you tears of sadness and tears of happiness! --By Rahel (a student in msdu's class)
