I that the book was a sanitized G rated version of the story. I knew some of the people mentioned in the book and I barely recognize them from the way they are portrayed. Rambling Willie was an amazing horse and as a record of his life this book works. It is the humans of the story that suffer from being so sanitized. Because of the need to keep it G rated, the main characters became one dimensional instead of the interesting complex people they were.
