Editorial Reviews

Rambo 4: The next chapter finds Rambo recruited by missionaries to protect them during a humanitarian aid effort on behalf of the persecuted Karen people of Burma. After the missionaries are taken prisoner by Burmese soldiers, Rambo gets a second impossible job: rescue the missionaries in the midst of a civil war. Rambo-First Blood: He never fought a battle he couldn't win--except the conflict raging within his own soul.Academy Award(r)-nominee Sylvester Stallone stars as war hero John Rambo. An ex-Green Beret haunted by memories of Vietnam, he was once the perfect killing machine. Now he's searching for peace, but finds instead an over-zealous, small- town sheriff who's spoiling for a fight. All hell breaks loose when anunjustly imprisoned Rambo escapes and becomes the target of a massive manhunt. Now he must use all his cunning, combat skills and weapons training to stay alive and outwit his pursuers. Co-starring Brian Dennehy and Richard Crenna, First Blood is an explosive action-thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final, powerful frame.

5.0 out of 5 stars In response to the other review... February 2, 2011
I don't know what issue the other person had with this two-pack is, but both films are presented in Widescreen. As far as I know, there is not yet a single case where a "pan and scan" or a reformatted "full screen" aspect ratio as the feature presentation on any Blu-Ray (at least not by a major studio), and there are an EXTREMELY limited number of cases where a full-screen version is also included in addition to the widescreen feature (excluding, of course, films that were shot and are meant to be presented in full screen from the '40s and earlier).

In any case, this is just the two existing RAMBO and FIRST BLOOD Blu-rays in a single case. All the same extras, same presentation, etc. It is also the theatrical presentation of RAMBO and not the Director's Cut.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Price for the Quality March 5, 2011

The second reviewer is correct. I am not sure what the first reviewer is talking about. The picture is presented in the OAR and the picture quality is good.
These are the same discs as are in the single movie editions of the product. The Rambo 4 disc says disc 1 on it so it appears they just took it out of the original release that had the digital copy disc with it.
If you like the Rambo movies these are a great value. 2 great movies for the price of one.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Only Rambo Movies You Really Need! December 5, 2012
Verified Purchase
I'll be honest... I am not a big Rambo fan. While I always enjoyed the original, First Blood, and the newest movie, Rambo, non of the in-between movies are entertaining for me. I have always ran into a three-pack at the stores, which only include the first three, so why pay for two movies I have no interest in?

After reading a short review from blu-ray dot com, I'd agree that the picture is never very bright, but it is part of the film style since much takes place at night and in the woods. There's no overly done artificial noise reduction BS taking place to smooth out the film grain, so the images has plenty of detail for an older film. The surround sound I don't remember jumping out at me as a phenomenal experience, just average. Or if I had to rate it maybe I'd classify it as "like the rest and not a tick better."

So, if you're like me, and you only want to watch and own the "good" Rambo's... THIS is the combo pack for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Movies simply look better on Blu-ray March 29, 2014
Verified Purchase
I bought this pack mainly for the original Rambo 1 movie disc. It looked great in high-definition. I do not understand one reviewer's comment about his aspect ratio problem with the discs. The movies are displayed with the top and bottom black bars that almost all recent movies have. Another reviewer says that these Rambo movies, 1 & 4, are the best. While the first Rambo is one of the best, the 4th Rambo movie is Not! Rambo 4 is not a bad movie. It's just not as great as Rambo 1 and 2, and even 3. In the first 3 Rambo movies, Sylvester Stallone looks young and energetic. In the 4th Rambo movie, Sylvester Stallone looks old and tired. I think that in Rambo 4 they tried to compensate the old and tired look with graphic and modern special-effects. When it comes to the graphic and special-effects scenes, Rambo 4 beats 1, 2, and 3.
