Mr. Christie's historic interpretation of Rameau,
By H. von Osnabrueck (Orlando, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rameau: Pièces de clavecin (1724); Nouvelles Suites de Pièces de clavecin (1728) (Audio CD)
This is an incredible CD of Jean-Philippe Rameau's Pieces de Clavicin. Mr. Christie is a superb harpsichordist with engenius expression. Mr. Christie remains faithful to the original intent of the composer. The harpsichord pieces from both books are revolutionary for their time, highly sophisticated, and departing drastically from the conservative works of Couperin or Marchand. Both CD's with this set make for very elegant music. |
