GameSpot Review

Rampage World Tour is a 1997 update to the 1986 arcade classic, Rampage. Not a whole lot has changed in the 11 years between the two games. Sure, the graphics are better and the levels are larger, but at its core, World Tour is still the same old game. You still pick one of three monsters and blow up every building in sight. The only real difference is that this time there's a bit of a storyline attached to the madness. The game gets under way with the three characters being mutated into large monsters. Angry at the company that's producing this mutating goo, the monsters set out to destroy everything in their paths in hopes of destroying all the plants making this radioactive muck around the world. A slim story, yes, but more than enough for a game like Rampage. The graphics in Rampage World Tour are, of course, better than the original Rampage, yet they maintain the same look and feel. The game's sound (mostly explosions, air-raid sirens, and the like) also fits really well. The translation is nearly identical to the arcade version of World Tour. The gameplay also sticks to the original, although now your monster can kick, which makes destroying buildings and ground vehicles much easier. Perhaps even a bit too easy. And there are lots of new little tricks in the game, like bouncing off buildings, jumping onto planes, and more. The levels are now much bigger, and if you take too long, the citizens evacuate the town and call in the national guard. If you enjoyed Rampage in any of its previous incarnations, Rampage World Tour is probably worth picking up, but the game is incredibly repetitive and stupidly simple. Unless you were a freak for the original game, you'll tire of RWT very quickly.--Jeff Gerstmann--Copyright © 1998 GameSpot Inc. All rights reserved. In the game u choose to play as one of 3 different monsters, a giant lizard, wolfman, and a king kong like charachter. The object is simple, destroy and eat as much as possible. In each level you have a number of buildings to destroy while being shot at by army troops. The graphics and animation in this game are trully eye pleasing, nothing like the old arcade's 16 color scheme. And if you get bored of destroying buildings, take it out on one of your partners, punch them, kick them in the groin, or a jump kick to the jaw. Its just plain fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rampage is finally back, November 18, 2000

"Rampage World Tour" is the sequel to the smash arcade hit and Nintendo hit, Rampage. A lot of people, including myself, have waited for years for this game to come out after growing up with the original for many years. Like the original, it's a good game. It has great graphics that are a lot more detailed, perfect control, and it's fun. The effects are a lot better in this one and you'll see that when you destroy the buildings or a helicopter and see the explosions. George the gorilla and Lizzy the lizard return in this sequel, and there's also a new character, Ralph the mouse. To make destroying the buildings easier, you can now stomp on top of them instead of just punching at them like a punchbag the whole time.

The only downfall to "Rampage World Tour" is that it can get a little repetitive after so many cities and that it's a breeze for anyone to beat the game because you can continue as many times as you want and you only have to destroy all the buildings in each level to go to the next city. However, if you liked the original Rampage, that shouldn't bother you that much. There are also some cool bonus levels in this game that are a lot different and better than the original's.

If you liked the original Rampage game for the regular Nintendo or if you liked playing it in the arcades, and if you like games where you destroy cars and helicopters, eat people, and do total carnage to cities, I would recommend getting "Rampage World Tour."

2.0 out of 5 stars Playing this game is equivalent to taking a nap, April 20, 2000

I played this game while I was babysitting at a friends house. I played for about half an hour. By then I'd had enough. You'll like this game if you want to destroy stuff and eat people over aand over and over again. All you do is start the game, choose your monster, and start destroying. You do the same thing every time. You walk around and punch a building holes form on it and you grad the stuff and eat it. Or, you can punch airplanes or cars. In conclusion, i found this game boring. This game would be good in an arcade for 25 cents for about 15 minutes. done.
