As someone that only uses a multimeter ocassionally I really did not want to spend a whole bunch a replacement for my old analog multimeter. This meter was the same price as the old meter and has more features and looks like and feels like a good quality meter which kind of surprised me for the price.

I've only had it for a couple of days and have done some tests and it appears to be accurate and easy to use.

I was a little disappointed with this multimeter overall. I've used several different brands in the past, and this one seemed like a nice, cheap model for general diagnostic use. It gets the job done overall, and is very usable, but what struck me was that the continuity test on it is TERRIBLE. You can just touch the test leads together when it is on the audible tone for continuity, and it will take MORE THAN A SECOND to produce a tone. This might seem like nitpicking, but when you are troubleshooting a circuit it becomes extremely annoying. The other negative quality is the test leads are super cheap, dinky hard plastic that just dont have a very good feel to them. Positives are that the back light is very nice, I can see it being very useful if you are doing some car repair or something outside at night. Overall, it is pretty usable, I would have really liked it more if it weren't for the crappy continuity test.

I purchased another one of these meters (I already owned one). This a great small multimeter for a hobbyist like me, and you can't beat the price!

$20 you only can buy a really small one in the local store! here i got this looks pro and great quality meter!it has the backlight, hold and great protect case(yellow), i've accident dropped it from about 3-4 feet high to the concrete. it still works!!!

A great versatile machine that is as accurate as I would ever need. As mentioned in other reviews, the buzzer is a little low on volume. Mine came in a green plastic rubber back cover instead of the yellow one, though its the exact same model. The rubber cover also has a built in stand which is nice and stable enough. Good quality at a great price, don't bother looking around because this is the one. Shipping time was reasonable too.

not durable at all, used it a few times worked well at first then started having problems with readings and the sound for continuity started fading away till no more, product has been in my tool case so it gets tossed around allot but not too often and now it does not work. poor quality

I've been using this Velleman DVM850BL meter and I can say it works great. For the price you get a lot of features, including bonuses like an audible continuity test, diode test, transistor test, and a replaceable internal fuse. At this price point, it's a great meter for a beginner electronics enthusiast. It is non-auto ranging, which I like. The construction is sturdy and well made. Pair this meter with an extra set of test leads such as Banana to Minigrabber Test Lead Set and you will have yourself a great setup for your digital multimeter needs. The only downside I've seen is the lack of an auto-off feature, but that's pretty minor. Overall this is a great meter at a bargain price. * Edit 2011-11-28: fixed incorrect wording due to autocomplete mistake. Should read "replaceable fuse".

This product is the perfect balance between:

-good price
-acceptable quality
-minimum requirements for the equipment
-reliability of the product.

if you are looking for a mix of all these, do not hesitate to buy this device.

if you want something more professional, then you should get another, but this meter serves both for the hobbyist, student, and those small tasks that require basic data of electronic and electrical power, because this device is trust full for those tasks.

I agree with other reviewers, it works pretty well, its pretty cheap, but when you are checking a lot of things, its pretty frustrating to wait so long for the measurement to settle.

I have received it in very good condition (of course). And it was sent in a timely manner. It would be nice if I can order more!!!!!
