VERY TALENTED, July 27, 2002
I saw Keith Urban in concert about a year ago and went looking for this CD because he performed 2 songs from it - Walkin' the Country and Homespun Love. I wasn't disappointed with the CD. It has now become one of my favorites. When you want to get in that FAST, foot tapping, windows rolled down with the volume turned up mood, play the first two tracks. The "Some Days You Gotta Dance" is the same song as the Dixie Chicks release but I like Keith's version better. There's something about his voice that compels me to listen and keep playing. His guitar work is amazing also. Very strong recommendation.

EXTRAORDINARY TALENT: KEITH URBAN, April 4, 2003
I have a considerable collection of "Country Music" albums that range over several decades. It's my favorite music outside the "classical" realm. However, when I first saw and heard Keith Urban on CMT, I knew immediately that I was experiencing an extraordinary talent in many respects. I got my hands on "Golden Road" and was astonished by what I heard. Amazing musical skill at the guitar and ganjo. Sophistication in ability to write wonderful lyrics, and a crystal clear voice with a great country accent. Amazing to consider that Keith Urban is a wonderful gift to us from New Zealand/Australia! I found mylself listening to "Golden Road" both at home and in my car. I checked Amazon to see what other albums had been released by Keith. I ordered them all! "THE RANCH," an album released in 1997 was pure electricity! It's not fair to compare THE RANCH to "Golden Road," released in 2002. Five years is a long time between two albums. Each stands on its own! Keith Urban appears to be having lots of FUN when he records and this is passed easily on to the listener. It's great FUN to listen to "THE RANCH." As in "Golden Road," the virtuoso piece, "Clutterbilly" for guitar and ganjo plus several other instruments is the only instrumental on the disc. Written by Keith, it's the best and most complex piece of its kind I've heard since "Dueling Banjos" became well known in the movie "Deliverance." Only a master of guitar and ganjo could ever attempt to play "Clutterbilly." Others will only be able to play at it, but never play it. You can't go wrong with "THE RANCH." Happily, we can't wear out CD's or I'd have to buy a dozen of them. "THE RANCH" is manufactured in Australia and its cost is a bit steep. Even when you find it on auction sites on the web. HOWEVER, IT'S WORTH IT'S WEIGHT IN PLATINUM!!!!

I give it more than 5 stars!, February 27, 2003
This review is from: Ranch (Audio CD)
This CD is a Must have!!! I LOVE the CD and listen to it like, all the time. You'll fall in love with songs like, "Walkin the Country," "Homespun Love," and "Just Some Love." The other songs are unbelievable too! It's got a great beat. You'll just want to hear it over and over again(I know I always do:) You might also enjoy the song, "Some Days You Gotta Dance." You might know it from the Dixie Chicks' version. If you love Keith Urban like I do, you'll love this CD, or this can be a great chance to get to know more about Keith's music(It's more than words can say) So, you should defiantly consider getting this CD, I know I love it!
