Wonderfully erotic and romantic,
This review is from: The Rancher's Ultimatum (Paperback)
Jake Rangell and Lynn James have secretly desired each other for years. Yet the bad blood between their families, which rivaled the feuds between "The Hatfields and The McKoys", made pursuing love a tad difficult.
However, dire financial straits have Lynn doing the unthinkable - asking for Jake's help to save her family's ranch. He accepts, but under one condition -- that she live with him and be "his" in every sense of the word -- for two weeks. HAVE MERCY! Jake made my palms sweat just turning the pages. He puts the "A" in Alpha male. He's brooding, sexy and has been waiting for years to claim Lynn as his woman. Lynn (lucky woman) has loved Jake forever. Although initially hesitant about the proposition, she soon discovers that this was an offer she'd be crazy to refuse. Together, they were a wonderful, passionate couple. This book was too HOT!! It was my first Nia Foxx read and it will not be my last! Ms. Foxx brought the sexiness of erotic romance to the forefront and she didn't let go until the end. "The Rancher's Ultimatum" was about trust in oneself and the courage to find love in the midst of family strive and uncertainty. There was a small element of BDSM which made the book downright sexy! (I am so into cowboys right now!) Personally, if I had someone like Jake "disciplining" me, I'd misbehave on purpose (smile). Great book!

Lynn James became a member of the Harrington family the day her mother married Race Harrington. Because of this, the longstanding feud between the Harrington's and the Rangell's became hers, notwithstanding the fact that Lynn secretly yearned for Jake Rangell and continues to do so. Lynn is called home because of her brother's lazy financial decisions which could cause them to lose their family home. Seeing no other options but to ask for help, Lynn swallows her pride and heads to the Rangell ranch and the man that she dreams about every night, Jake.
Jake Rangell knows he is seeing things. Lynn James is in his office asking him for help to get her family out of a financial bind. Feeling downright contrary because of his unexpected desire for the dark beauty, Jake comes up with a solution for Lynn's problem. If she agrees to become his submissive for two weeks without question, Jake will solve all of her financial woes. Things don't look good when Lynn storms out. Jake doesn't have the heart to tell her that he was just pushing her buttons; especially when she calls him back and agrees to his proposition. Their coming together is dominant, explosive, and just downright sensual. However, their idyllic time comes to an end when the man who raised Lynn finds out and proceeds to confront the lovers. Oh my! Every girl needs a sexy rancher like Jake Rangell! Wiping sweat off of my brow, I have to congratulate Lynn on being able to tame that bad boy in her own special way. Totally delicious, THE RANCHER'S ULTIMATUM was completely savored in one sitting. Finding myself drawn in to the story, I winced at Jake's somewhat indecent proposal, but had to give Lynn a high five for her gutsy and daring response. All in all, this is a very well told story. While there are elements of D/s, THE RANCHER'S ULTIMATUM is not an over-the-top BDSM novel. Instead, it is a very delightful look at a couple's ability to overcome obstacles not of their making in order to achieve the desires hidden in their hearts. I really, really liked this one.

This story is a great read it is about a woman that returns to the ranch were she grew up to save it from her families nemesis. The plot thickens when her nemesis who she has secretly had a crush on only agrees to assist if she stays a week with him. I really liked the characters in this story. This was a fun and sexy read.

Am I the only one who found this book just a little offensive? No self respecting woman of any race would allow herself to be used or spoken to the way Jake did Lynn. She prostituted herself because some man told her to. No matter how deep her feelings were for him she should have hauled off and slapped the taste out of his mouth for suggesting such a arrangment. I am no prude, far from it in fact, but come on!

I'd like to preface my review with the mention that I purchased the Kindle edition of this book and read it on my PC. That said, I must say that the formatting or the editing here was atrocious. The paragraph spacing was all over the place and VERY distracting. Paragraphs would begin in the middle of sentences. Other times, chunks of conversations would all be grouped together in one paragraph. There were a few other minor errors but none so glaringly obvious.
PLOT: Lynn returns home to help save her family's ranch. To do that, she needs to borrow some equipment from Jake Ragnall. But their families have been feuding for years. Despite that, Lynn and Jake have always been attracted to each other. He offers to let her family use the equipment . . . if she'll spend a week with him. The positives of this book are that the hero and heroine have known each other since before they were teens. Their shared history (and feelings) make their falling in love in such a short time more plausible. I liked the ending.

Where was the drama, the excitement? It was like a Disney movie with sex. a girl and a boy liked each other forever, they grow up, man has something the girl needs, man tells lady to become his "concubine" for 2 weeks to get what she needs, she pretends to refuse knowing she's going to do it anyway. he's grunts and growls, throws out orders, tells her disobey you get a spanking, she disobeyed and got a spanking ,they have sex and she likes it cause she always wanted to do him, and oh yea her step brother likes her in un-family like ways. It was boring

Ok, It takes a lot for me to give a book a very bad review. Even If a book is not my "cup of tea", I would atleast give it three stars if the book was well written with some sense of effort. I read this book on my kindle and from the very first page or two, I realize that I made a bad choice in purchase. There is no clear distinction of who was saying what. I had to pause and figure it out for myself..a big turn off!! The plot Terrible. The characters Terrible. The erotica Hot. Even if this book was edited (by the first two pages you realize that is wasn't), the story line is simply not good or should I say way underdeveloped. So, I will "chalk it up" as a waste of my money and move on to bigger and better reads.

Extreme alpha male. Characters were secretly in love with each other their entire lives. Nice back story. My only complaint has to do with the whole hero hitting heroine aspect of the book (though she didn't mind enough to b&tch slap him as I would've). All in all, I liked this book.

Expected more!,
This review is from: The Rancher's Ultimatum (Paperback)
The plot was too outrageous and soap opera-ish to be realistic. First of all I didn't know this was going to be a erotic book because that's not normally my cup of tea. Second the length of the book disappointed me because I knew the story and plots would not be developed enough in such a short read and sure enough it wasn't. I wish more time was spent on Lynn and Jake getting to know one another again since they hadn't seen or heard from each other in 11 years. The minute they do see each other they right away jump in the sack over an outrageous "arrangement?" I never got a real feel of how Jake looked outside of him being tall with brownish-blonde hair. Lynn was described as "thick" throughout the book and that got on my nerves. She went from being spunky with attitude to totally submissive to a fault and that got on my nerves too. I know it was all part of Jake's game that she felt she had to play but still! He talked to her like he was commanding a dog instead of talking to her like the grown woman that she was. I know some people are into the dominatrix/alpha male thing but there were some parts that I wanted her to speak up and tell Jake where he could get off! This book had potential but I was left feeling quite disappointed. It felt like I saw the beginning and then the end of a really good movie but missed all of the juice in the middle that makes a good movie or book come together.

Missed the Mark Here, But Writer Definitely Has Potential,
This review is from: The Rancher's Ultimatum (Paperback)
What I liked about the book was overshadowed by what I didn't like. I love Alpha men, and I love hot sex. However, the plot line was totally unrealistic--perhaps it would have been more believable for a rancher to make such an outrageous "demand" if this had been in the days of the Old West, but not in this day and age. I liked Lynn's spunkiness in the beginning, but she quickly turned from that to a little wimpy dishrag. The book tried to "explain" this anomaly away by throwing in submissive/dominance aspect of Lynn and Jake's relationship, but it failed IMHO. The sex between the two was pretty hot, and the writing has merit. In the future, I hope the author will come up with a more realistic plot line.
