Cheap 'n' Detailed: Just Like Atlases for Travel Should Be, April 1, 1998

Somehow rating a road atlas on a scale of 1-10 strikes me as silly. Would a "10" spell Chattanooga correctly, while a "3" may leave something out? Anyway, if you do a lot of traveling by car (or aspire to), this is definitely worth the low, low price to pick one up and keep it in the car. You never know when you just simply must make that drive to "Cold Mountain" in North Carolina and aren't sure how best to get there.
Perhaps the best aspect of this book o' maps is that it manages to include lists of suggested trips or extra added bonus details that a regular map would never include. For example, one may completely be oblivious to Amish Country or checking out State Hwy 100 in Vermont (especially in late Sept-early Oct), but lo and behold, this book has a tendency to include little blurbs on these very things. More than once have I added a stop or two, or taken a more scenic alternate route, on a road trip because this atlas has had some positive comment to make on something that I would have otherwise been aware of. That's a rather unexpected reward to glean from a "book of maps".
