I recently purchased this book for my son because I love anything with a vintage look and feel. I've known of the Caldecott awards but until seeing this book had no idea who the award was named for. I love the stories and the simple elegance of the drawings and muted colors. It is just beautiful and can see why he was the inspiration behind the awards

This is a beautiful book, nicely bound, of Caldecott's work. The touches of whimsy in his illustrations came as a surprise to me. I flipped through this on a whim in the reading room of an art museum, and liked it so much I went home to order my own. You probably won't use it to read the stories to your kids, but you will enjoy the illustrations yourself, if that's your thing. "The Queen of Hearts" is among my favorites. The Caldecott Medal is a high honor for illustrators of children's books -- and this collection will show you why. Being compared to Caldecott, who was the master of children's illustration of his time, is high praise, indeed.

A classic which every child should have on her bookshelf to read over and over and over. As I have for many years.

This book is so much more than what I was hoping for! My daughter will benefit from the lovely words and rhymes as well as the beautiful images that have been drawn with such great care. Obvious from the first glimpse a classic to treasure for life!

Even if you've never heard of the 19th-century illustrator Randolph Caldecott, you'll enjoy his whimsical drawings and sense of humor. This is the perfect book to read aloud to children, with lots of fun pictures to laugh about together.
