4.0 out of 5 stars Ignore these other reviews. This CD is worth the price alone
for the remix of I Die You Die. If you love Numan than go for this CD.

This remix is kicking. It is currently being played in lots of London clubs and is becoming a big club hit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful, dreadful,dreadful ...
Having been pleasantly surpirsed by the style, quality and wit of Random, this album was a deep disappointment.

While the amount of creativity and work which went into the first album is immediately apparent, Random 2 seems to have been thrown together by several spotty adolescents in an afternoon.

The producers of this album ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Even hardened Numan fans should stay well clear.

1.0 out of 5 stars A $13 coaster, unworthy of being associated with the artist., July 19, 1998
This review is from: Random 2: Gary Numan Tribute (Audio CD)
While I would not hesitate to recommend Random, the first CD of Gary Numan material performed by other artists, this CD, as described by another Numan fan, gave me a nose bleed. The meandering mish-mash of drum machines and random samples (pun intended) is not what I call entertainment. Most of the songs, if you can call them that, are unrecognizable and seemingly unrelated to originals. They even have the gall to include a track from Random! If you are a devoted Numanoid, and have to have any and all material that is even in the least bit associated with Numan, go ahead and buy this. For the rest of us, what we have here is a $13 dollar coaster.

1.0 out of 5 stars Remix album, not tribute album, per se, February 11, 2009
This review is from: Random 2: Gary Numan Tribute (Audio CD)
Unlike the first Random, this particular 'tribute' really isn't a compilation of musicians re-recording music of a brilliant musician, it's a compilation of DJ's butchering, umm I mean 'remixing', said music. World of difference.

But with that said, this still sucks. I think any true lover of music should seriously just stay away from this pretentious techno/rave trash that they call remixes. Don't get me wrong, some remix jobs are good, but when all you hear are pre-recorded beats that someone copies and pastes along with throwing in a few song samples does NOT constitute a remix, let alone anything really worth listening to. Sure, if you want some shallow music to dance/party to go for some of this crap, but Numan fans such as I will probably hate how these alleged musicians utterly disintegrate the original tracks in exchange for hit-hats, handclaps, breakbeats etc. If anything this musical CD is hardly musical, with the exception of what little Numan is left on it.

There is one remix that was released previously, Dave Clarke's remix of Cars, which made onto that one remix EP which managed to make a few dollars, but that sucks too, is way over-rated, and honestly this whole entire 'tribute' is the most unflattering way to make money off of the success of the first Random.
