5.0 out of 5 stars Stellar Album June 14, 2011
By Domjell
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
Great cohesive album, with stellar production from Black Milk and great lyrics especially from Sean P. Duck Down is turning into a label that only releases must have albums.

4.0 out of 5 stars Random Axe go hard. June 15, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Solid effort from the D and Bucktown representatives. Check the resume,Black Milk underated with beats and Duck Down is one of hip hop's finest labels. Lets keep it all the way 100. You can't believe in a hip hop review that ends in "Seriously". Support real hip hop. (Sean P is your favorite mc's favorite mc's.) Cop this ish.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dope. June 15, 2011
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I'm really lovin' this album right now. If you listen to Sean Price, Guilty Simpson and Black Milk ... you know what you're get: dope beats, gritty street lyricism, witty sense of humor (lots of laughs) and straight, raw hip-hop.

Get on it or get on/get gone.

B!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great!!!! June 17, 2011
Format:Audio CD
I've been bumping Random Axe non-stop. I was afraid of the production side because Black Milk didn't impress me on "365", on the other hand I was sure that on the lyrical tip, the album would be fire as indeed it is.

I'm glad that Milk stepped his game up, the album is a banger from start to finish, solid beats and solid rhymes makes Random Axe one of the best releases of '11 so far!

4.0 out of 5 stars Dope LP but falls a little short June 15, 2011
Format:Audio CD
This album is good and Black Milk does an excellent job meshing soul samples with a synth sound. Some bangers on this for sure. Yet a few of his beats tend to be a little too electro heavy and have some odd whistles/beeps etc. Like for instance "Everybody Nobody Somebody" has these annoying echoes in the background. On the whole though his production is solid and his drums are always crisp. I really like Sean P rocking over the syncopated drums at the beginning of "Understand This." Sean Price and Guilty Simpson form a dope combo. They both have original flows, similar rough voices, and entertaining lyrics. 8.4/10

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent December 11, 2013
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
It was decent but I wasn't as happy at the end of the album, as I was when I knew it was coming out. Dope group, no question, the tracks weren't all bangers for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice album from 3 under rated talents April 14, 2012
By G$
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
It took a while after first hearing of this group and album for them to finally put it out, and like most people would expect, the wait gave way to a nice product. The 3 man group has been doing a lot of work together the last couple years (Black Milk & Guilty Simpson more closely, being from the same city, but they are also newer to the game and are not near the veteran status of Sean Price). Guilty Simpson is the most featured on here (on 12 of the 13 songs, and having 2 solo's). Sean Price is on 11 of the 13 and has 1 solo. Black Milk only appears on 5 of the songs, but handles all of the production, and as usual does a nice job on it. The style of rapping that Price & Simpson deliver fit very nice together, and go well with Black Milk's talent on the production end, and his rapping gives a nice twist and different style/sound when he does decide to drop some lyrics. Though I don't have all, I do have a good deal of albums of each individual member as well, that they have dropped over the years, with Price being the veteran of the trio (first hearing him back in 1995), where as the 2 Detroit members are newer in the rap scene (first hearing Black Milk around 2005 and Guilty Simpson around '06). I have 5 solo's/mixtapes of Sean Price as well as 3 of his group albums as half of the rap duo, Heltah Skeltah. I also have 5 solo's of Black Milk's and 3 of Guilty Simpsons. Of the 13 songs, I'd say 2 are near classics, 2 are ok, the other 9 are good or real good songs. Guests are on 5 of the songs, rapping on 4 and doing the hook on 1. A nice album to have from some (unfortunately) underrated, but very talented people.

#2 - 9 (nice beat)
#3 - 8 (no Black Milk, f/ Fat Ray)
#4 - 9 (no Black Milk, f/ Roc Marciano - nice beat)
#5 - 9.
