Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 6 Up–The author surveys more than 300 dinosaur sites state by state in the U.S. and province by province in Canada. Entries include addresses, phone numbers, Web sites, and short descriptions of exhibits. For each state, there is also a Bone Digger Bonus, which tells a story about a particular exhibit or type of dinosaur found there. But this is much more than just a travel guide. A shopping section tells where to find dinosaur-themed candy, stickers, and pajamas. There is an extensive list of Web sites, enough for kids to do their traveling via computer, if that's the only way they can go, and contact information for the Geological Survey Office in each region. Pencil drawings of all types of prehistoric creatures decorate the pages. This is a wonderful resource; it's useful as an introduction to places of interest and a great armchair guide to the world of dinosaurs.–Cynde Suite, Bartow County Library System, Adairsville, GA

5.0 out of 5 stars Kelly Really Knows Her Stuff, April 11, 2006

This review is from: The Random House Dinosaur Travel Guide (Paperback)
Kelly Milner Halls has been a dinosaur fan all of her life and it shows in this book. What a great resource for families all across the country who have kids who love dinosaurs! There's no better writer to bring these sites to the kids who love them than Kelly - she puts it all in language that kids can understand, that will get them excited about travel and about doing their own research into paleontology. I'm ready to go reserve the RV and hit the road myself!

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for a Parentosaurus on a road trip, July 30, 2006
This review is from: The Random House Dinosaur Travel Guide (Paperback)
State by state, highway by highway, this slim, well-packed volume highlights all the best dino-related museums, amusement parks, dig sites and related activities to be found in North America. From Canada's "Dinosaur Valley" to the dead oceans of the Great Plains, this book'll show you where to go to satisfy the curiousity of even the most avid junior paleontologist. If you're planning your next big road trip, you might want to take this along, and see what kinda bones you can dig up. The graphics aren't great, but the info is all grade-A.
