Last week I decided I needed more dice. If you knew how many dice I already had, this statement would make you smile. But I could not decide between the Chessex Pound o' Dice or the Wiz Dice 100+ pack. So I did what any insane gamer would do and I ordered them both!

The Chessex Dice: Pound of Dice (Pound-O-Dice) Approximately 100 Die came to 113 dice in the following mix:
* 9 d4
* 34 d6 (with pips)
* 6 d6 (with numbers)
* 7 d8
* 28 d10 (0-9)
* 1 d% (d10 with 00-90)
* 7 d12
* 14 d20
* And the promised full set (1 of each, 7 total) (white with teal numbers)

A good mix of colors and the "stone" colors are quite nice. The quality of the dice seems really good and I can't see any physical defect to make the "seconds." My guess is some of the odd colorations is what made them "not perfect." Looking at the mix of dice, you can see the mix is heavily skewed to d6's... frankly the least desired dice for my collection.

Also the "full set" is probably the worst set a person could ask for... white? Really? With UGLY teal numbers? I would have given this purchase a slightly higher ranking if they had at least given a nicer full set and MUCH less d6's. I will definitely use a few of the better colors, and I know I will wish that I had a full matching set. Bottom line is I got 113 dice for $22 which is pretty good

On the other hand, the Wiz Dice 100+ Pack of Random Polyhedral Dice in Multiple Colors Plus Free Pouch Set by Wiz Dice pack gave me 110 dice in 16 matching sets of 7.

Thrilled with the diversity of type.

I was able to make five complete sets that matched color. The remainder of the d10,12,20,% are all different types. The remainder of the d4,6,and 8 are much less diverse.

The company line of "We never deal in factory seconds" that appears in the product advertisement - That is absolutely not true. You will see chipped/missing paint on the numbers of some of these dice. This doesn't mean that they are unreadable or anything, but putting up a picture showing what a factory second is and then claiming that they don't have "seconds" dice in this product is completely false and they really should remove that blurb from their product advertisement. It is just not true.

That said, the dice here are an EXCELLENT value for the money, and based on that, this is a five star purchase. If a little chipped paint here or there on some dice ruins it for you, you'd be better served selecting your dice in person at a shop instead of buying bulk on the internet.

Edit: The supplier offers clarification regarding the term "factory seconds" in the first comment to this review.

So there are lots of reviews of people with 15 or 16 complete sets. There are a fair number of reviews from people who were not as lucky. The review from yesterday was 16, as was the day before that and the day before that. I myself got a full 16 complete sets, only the set in the bag matched another making 14 unique sets + 2 red sets. If you look at the less than stellar reviews they too tend to be grouped together. One day someone has few complete sets and the next few reviews echo the same results. So my advice is this, look at the reviews for the last few days. If they are happy reviews put your order in. If they are disappointed buyers then now not the time to make your purchase.

Now on to the dice. I have lots of Chessix, some Game Science, and even some Dwarven Stones. I got these as my loaner dice for people who forget theirs or those need to roll lots of the same but don't have enough, the player who needs 10 d6's for sneak attack for instance. I assumed that I would still favor my Chessix for general play. However a side by side comparison shows them to be quite comparable. Numbers are easy to read, the edges are sharper than my Chessix (probably due to wear from use). I would have no problems using them for my own gaming save for one perceived defect. The d4's are numbered on the bottom rather than on the top which I prefer. As a result the type is smaller since the numbers have to crowd in the center rather than spread out over the whole face. So Chessix wins there with large numbers at the top. But it is a minor complaint that I'm sure I can live with. Overall I am very happy with the purchase.

I have now purchased both this and the Chessex Pound o Dice, and I prefer this set by quite a bit. You are much more likely to find matches in your "random" dice in this set of 100 than the Pound o Dice.

Good quality, good price, good buy.

Your experience may vary, but I received SEVENTEEN COMPLETE SETS of dice in my 100+ Pack of Random Polyhedral Dice by Wiz Dice. That's 119 dice! They are shown in the video and it was a big surprise.

Overall the quality is very good. My bag didn't have any obvious flaws in any of the dice. All of the dice were well-marked and very readable, though the pearlescent white dice with the gold lettering might be a bit more difficult to read under some lighting conditions. (They are really pretty, though.)

There's a nice mix of colors here - whites, reds, yellows, greens, blues, purples, brown and blacks. There were no orange dice in my bag, but that's where these sets can be random, as others have received orange dice in their bags. The marbled light-green and marbled black sets are probably my favorites.

Over a third of the sets in my bag were translucent, with the remainder being opaque solids or marbleized opaques. I'm not too keen on brown dice, but they aren't bad -- and the rest of the dice are in colors and patterns that look really nice.

The small Wiz Dice logo bag is nice. As others have noted, it can comfortably hold 2 standard sets of RPG dice. The dice in my small bag were black with white marbling, duplicating one of the other sets in the larger bag.

I'm very pleased with this purchase. I've also recently bought the Chessex Pound-O-Dice and the 100 Pack of Polyhedral Dice by White Tower.
