As per your usual cookbook this is split into sections such as "Meat and Poultry", "Shrimp, Crab and Lobster" and also has drinks, soups and breakfast suggestions too.

The recipes vary in complexity and have been gathered from a number of sources, family and friends, of the authors. You should be able to find something that you want to try !

A terrific cookbook with great stories to go along with the recipes, but all the pictures are in black and white. They look like wonderful pictures of sunsets and tropical scenes. Yet, no color. To me it looks like someone made a financial choice to save money on the printing. Too bad they didn't pass that along to the buyer. I'd of paid a few dollars more for color...

A terrific cookbook with great stories to go along with the recipes, but all the pictures are in black and white. They look like wonderful pictures of sunsets and tropical scenes. Yet, no color. To me it looks like someone made a financial choice to save money on the printing. Too bad they didn't pass that along to the buyer. I'd of paid a few dollars more for color photos. With color photos this is a five star rating. Without three.

The memories from RWW are fascinating and spice up (sorry for the pun) the book. However the reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because none of the pictures are in colour. If you were buying this partly because of the pictures as I was then you will be disappointed. Sunset over Sanibel Island in black and white is not anywhere near the real thing !

Scouring Amazon for any thing I hadn't read by Mr White I ordered this and yes I will probably order his hot sauces too.
I would probably buy RWW's shopping list if it came out, unfortunately this feels a bit like what I have done.

The lack of colour and qualiity of printing feels cheap and fails to entice me to create the scent or atmosphere of Sannibel and Doc Ford by actually trying any recipes, so it sits unread.

Still I now have Hunters Moon to read!

Shhh! It's a Christmas present for my sister! I skipped through the book and she will love the recipes. Since they've never seen Sanibel, the B/W pictures won't detract from the book for her. They LOVE seafood.

For reader's of White's Doc Ford novels, the cookbook provides more than recipes. There is a photo and text account of the Dinkins Bay Marina which once occupied the site of today's Tarpon Bay rental dock on Sanibel Island. As readers know, Doc Ford lives at Dinkins Bay Marina. Although Tarpon Bay is now part of the Ding Darling Wildlife Preserve on Sanibel, old-timers tell me it once was as White and Doc Ford describe it. For a book this thick, it is a bit thin on recipes. I was disappointed that there are not more main dish seafood recipes. What is there is good, there just ought to be more.

Great cook book if you love south florida seafood, especialy the rescipes from sanibel popular restaurants.By the way,pass on his overhyped hot sauces.Even Frank's is better.

Fans of the Doc will appeciate this look at what fuel keeps the guy going even as he constantly points out how old and out of shape he is getting. All I can say is - I'll have what he's having! Don't let the regional title scare you off; this cookbook takes you around the globe...some of the cocktail recipes might even take you out of this world.
