The best entry-level pharmacology textbook,
By jonhaff (Oxford, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pharmacology (Paperback)
Its strange that such an exciting subject as pharmacology is served by so many badly organised, boringly written and outdated textbooks. Rang + Dale is a refreshing antidote to this strange state of affairs. The first 8 chapters form a superb introduction to the subject - particularly because the authors don't skimp on the physiological details and concentrate on principles rather than endless catalogues of obscure drugs. This is a British textbook and thus uses British nomenclature, but the American equivalents are pointed out along the way, so American readers shouldn't be put off. The more advanced student will of course outgrow the material in this book, but I would strongly recommend this textbook for science undergrads, medical students, and anyone looking for a book to provide a solid foundation to their study of pharmacology.

This is a great textbook if you want as little detail as possible; it tells you exactly what you need to know and no more. The readings are short and easy. The best part about the textbook is the review boxes at the end of each section. The online access is also a plus because you are able to download and print the figures, which become useful study aids. I would definitely recommend this textbook. It should be supplemented with Pharmacology flashcards or charts, which is why it is only a four out of five stars.

Very clear text, elegant displying, excellent illustrations. A "must have" in the medical student's library and it is even useful to the doctor as a quick review of concepts already learned at university

A good start in pharmacology !,
This review is from: Pharmacology (Paperback)
This is one of the famous books written in pharmacology. it makes it interesting to study this subgect. although it not a comprehensive book in pharmacology and can not be used as a reference, it is good to start with in your medical study. It discusses topics in a nice way with summery at the end of each topic, and have a nice chapters in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics with illustrations. Not boring to read and have a good lyout.

It is a great pharmacology textbook for introductory students. It goes in-depth enough for you to understand the mechanisms behind pharmacological processes. Most likely this review isn't necessary as this will be required for whatever class you are taking but if you are independently thinking about a pharmacology textbook, I would recommend this one. It comes with online material for further instruction as well.

In my opinion this is the standard pharmacology textbook for all med students, pharmacist and drug researchers. Each chapter starts of with an introduction in detail to refresh the readers (it assumes u have prior knowledge, so does not explain technical terms).
It has good chapters on addiction, antibiotics and drug resistancce. An excellent and detailed read. Its something you can refer to without thinking "is that right??"
