Ms. Justesen's "Hey Ranger" series is informative, funny and well researched. The text is chock full of interesting facts as well as amusing anecdotes garnered from real life park rangers. It is a must for classroom use and an ideal addition to family trips.

We just got this book for my son who is 5. We are planning a trip to Yellowstone next year. He loves it! It has lots of great info and even lets the kids color in the pictures. The only complaint I have is what it doesn't say about the Yellowstone Volcano. My son happened to hear that there is a volcano under Yellowstone and has been terrified of it. While the book was accurate in that you never know for sure when geologic events will take place, I do wish that it would also add that most likely there would be some indication before a massive volcano eruption, and the chances of it happening on your family vacation are very small. We're hoping to be able to convince him of this before next summer!

It has good written material but the pages are not colored so it is very blah for that aspect. I may get some colored pencils to color all the pages so the kids will have more interest in having it read to them. They live near Yellowstone so I want them to know as much as possible for 5 yrs and under before going.
