5.0 out of 5 stars Great plot, awesome characters
"The Sorcerer of the North" is book 5 in John Flanagan's Ranger's Apprentice series and picks up where book 4 left off. Will is no longer an apprentice now; he is a full fledged Ranger assigned to his own fief. Rumor has it that a sorcerer is terrorizing citizens of Araluen up north, and Will is dispatched to investigate. I don't want to ruin the plot if you have yet to...

2.0 out of 5 stars Very dissatisfied
A good story line but poor ending. Unlike most series, where one book suggests or hints at the next adventure, this book ends without a conclusion. A clear, selfish strategy by the author to get kids to buy the next book. I guess its all about the money. Very dissappointing. I will not be buying the next books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great plot, awesome characters, August 8, 2011
This review is from: Ranger's Apprentice; Sorcerer in the North (Ranger's Apprentice S., No. 5, 5) (Paperback)
I don't want to ruin the plot if you have yet to read the book, but Flanagan again does an amazing job of telling his story. He paints vivid images with his words, his characters truly come alive, and there are several unexpected plot twists and turns. The book is fast paced, the action intense, and the character development top notch. I'm a huge fan of Flanagan's and can't wait to continue reading this series. If you're looking for a good read, any of his books are highly recommended!

We love it enough that we bought the books from Australia so we could continue reading before the US publication date.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Series, December 5, 2008

This review is from: Ranger's Apprentice; Sorcerer in the North (Ranger's Apprentice S., No. 5, 5) (Paperback)
I have read up to this book in the series because it is to expensive to purchase books 6-8 through the UK just yet. So I will have to wait for the US release. I am a HUGH Harry Potter fan. This series is just as action packed and I love watching the character grow and mature through the books. There is not the whymsical feel you get from HP but it is very exciting and creative.
